Center says farewell to Tom Lane

TOM LANE, who was hired as a stagehand for the Center in 1986, is retiring. He has also just celebrated 50 years as a member of The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees union.

In addition to his work with the Center, between 1990 and 2006 he was the head carpenter for Opera Pacific and Pacific Amphitheater, before returning to the Center in 2006 as technical director of the new Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. He assisted with the groundbreaking ceremony and the grand opening festivities for the concert hall.

Tom knows everything there is to know about the concert hall, down to the smallest detail. Under his watch, many of the world’s greatest entertainers, musicians and orchestras performed to the highest level, not just for Center presentations, but those of our Resident Companies who also offer performances in the concert hall. Tom has always ensured that everything was perfect, on stage and off.

We all wish him an enjoyable and relaxing retirement (rumor has it he will be spending lots of time with his grandchildren) and sincerely thank him for his dedication to helping the Center be a world-class performing arts center.
