Janine: Coming back from an injury is one of the hardest obstacles any athlete has to go through. Your confidence is shattered, things you could once easily perform, do not seem to come so easily anymore. Questioning your own abilities becomes an every-day occurrence. Everyone, besides my goalkeeper coach, told me I wasn't good enough. When you hear something loud enough and enough times, you start to believe it.
High school: Western High School
This type of circumstance can separate athletes; Winners vs. quitters. I chose to persevere, train hard and stick with the game in the most hellish of conditions. After all of the long and vigorous hours of training that I thought would never end, I've come back to the game, better and stronger than ever. Butterfingers were no longer a problem, goal kicks seemed more powerful, and my keeper calls roaring louder.
Height: 5' 7" (1.70m)
Grad year: Class 2015 Club: Weston FC and Plantation FC Position: Goalkeeper
Weight: 140 lbs (63.5 kg)
My last soccer season, at Western High School, was a great experience for myself. We ended the season 11-3-1. I was nominated MVP for both my high school and travel team (Weston FC) and played in both All-Star games. I've also been approached by multiple scouts this last season. During a fall travel tournament, I was scouted by a coach from Francis Marion University and was offered a scholarship to play for their Division 1 soccer team. I am very excited for this particular opportunity. I have my coaches, family and dedication to thank for this roller coaster ride of a journey. I'm thankful and confident in my abilities in order to take on these new challenges as a goal. SoccerDroid eMagazine – April 2015 Issue #E032015-2026P
