MISSION Remembers

The City of Mission Police Department commemorated National Police Week with a Police and Fire Memorial Ceremony on May 10, 2021.

“When duty calls, our officers respond without hesitation. They give so much of themselves, and though it is tragic, sometimes they make the ultimate sacrifice,” Mission Police Chief Robert Dominguez said. “We have experienced that profound loss one too many times. Our organization paid tribute to Mission Police Officers Jose Luis “Speedy” Espericueta Jr., Jorge Cabrera, Humberto Javier Avila, and Fulgencio Velasco III. We also honored the numerous first responders across our country who have died in the line of duty.”

The public and numerous neighboring law enforcement agencies joined Mission PD as they honored the fallen heroes with a special bagpipe ceremony, a twenty-one-gun salute and the playing of “Taps.”
