I started this family tradition based on what my Dad taught me. He always said, “You’ve got to respect nature, and if you’re going to hunt, you’ve got to eat what you kill!” So I learned how to cook and make venison chile. I’ve been using this super easy recipe for many, many years!

Instructions

Brown meat in oil of your choice. Add onions and garlic and saute until tender. Add meat, onions, chili powder, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper, masa harina, tomato paste, diced tomatoes, and beans. Stir. Add beef broth as needed depending on how thick you want your chili (you may substitute water or beer for beef broth). Simmer for an hour or more if needed. Serve with grated cheddar cheese, chives, avocado, and/or sour cream. You can also serve it with hotdogs or enchiladas! This is a very versatile dish!

Enjoy with saltine crackers or cornbread.
