All-Inclusive Park Coming to the City of Mission

On June 20, 2023, the City of Mission held the Lions Park Project Kick-off Ceremony. This exciting project will transform Lions Park into an all-inclusive recreational space, providing diverse amenities for people of all ages and abilities. Months of collaboration with specialists and therapists have created a barrier-free and enjoyable experience for all visitors. The highlight of the park’s renovation is adding a shaded playground area and a remarkable 2,975-square-foot splash pad. Dedicated to inclusivity, the Lions Park project introduces an extraordinary attraction entirely new to the Rio Grande Valley. The multi-generational Bankshot Basketball court has been specially designed to enable and encourage individuals of all abilities to play basketball. The play equipment is designed to cater to a diverse audience by incorporating English, Spanish, Braille, and American Sign Language. The Lions Park renovation project embodies Mission’s commitment to creating a welcoming environment where individuals of all abilities can come together and enjoy recreational activities side by side.
