JUNE 2012 Part I The inaugural pre-launch of the MANIFESTO MAGALOG was designed to paint a picture of the Society Socials and illustrate who we are as a brand before there was even a website to share. Thanks to the support of so many designers, bloggers, the media, and more, we’re approaching our one year anniversary, and I’m honored, humbled, and over-the-moon excited to show you who the Socials really are. This issue of the MANIFESTO MAGALOG will include the same entertaining tips, decorating advice, and shopping round-ups you’ve seen before, as well as a new peek into the homes of the very people who make this all possible! You’ll also find a sneak peek of our forthcoming designs that will debut in part II of the MANIFESTO MAGALOG in July. BIG ENTERTAINING
IN SMALL SPACES

Don’t be afraid to move your furniture around or even remove it from a room to create a space perfectly fit for your specific entertaining needs. Dance party? Lose the coffee table.

If you’re pulling from your desk to the living room for extra seating, a pretty ribbon or custom seat covers can unify a mismatched look.

Not having an extra coat closet doesn’t mean you should relegate your guests’ belongings to a sloppy heap on the floor. For a couple dollars buy removable, reusable, and temporary command strip hooks to position by the door for coats and bags. For a super special touch, spray paint them a pop of color or add a name tag! A small gesture but one that will not soon be

Often times dishes pile up from course to course and can be quite an eyesore for a small kitchen. Whip up finger foods for appetizers or desserts and eliminate the need for additional china and utensils.

Label your cupboards. Limited countertop space doesn’t lend to displaying all your glassware and dining necessities so make it convenient if guests have to help themselves to a teacup or extra silverware. You’ll make your job easier as the hostess and the scandalous table topic will go on uninterrupted!

Mix it up with a vintage item or two. A found item can give a room roots and add excitement to a design scheme especially in a high contrast juxtaposition. Mix textures! One too many slick surfaces can make a room feel cold. Adding tactile elements with contrasting flair gives depth and interest.

Use command strips to hang pictures on wallpaper— you don't want to damage it with nails.
If you’re on a budget and can’t afford art or wallpaper for a large blank wall, try using a tapestry. You can find them pretty cheap and they make a big impact.

Society Social calls for living sparkly and this time of year shines like no other! All I have to do is step outside and I’m surrounded with colorful blooms and warm rays of bright sunshine. It’s also a season full of surprises and what social worth her weight in sparkle doesn’t like surprises? I never know what will pop up in the garden or when I’ll be caught off guard by an unannounced rain shower that is sure to put a smile on my face. Is there any better time of year to be frolicking outdoors? Warmer weather calls for social surprises too! Invite your friends and neighbors for an impromptu day of lawn games. Prepare for your soiree by accessorizing and stocking your bar cart because a day of outdoor fun calls for sensational sippers. I’ve mixed up four dazzling elixirs that will keep your guests cool while they work the turf. Whether it’s a charming game of croquet, a dashing game of badminton, a merry game of horseshoes or a blissful game of bocce ball, your spirited day of sport is sure to be a smashing success!

CROQUET SMASH
1 oz. watermelon vodka ½ oz. St. Germain 1 oz. pureed and strained watermelon ½ oz. tonic water
1 oz. vodka ½ oz. Amaretto 1 oz. orange juice ½ oz. soda
Fill a rocks glass with ice and add vodka and St. Germain. Top with fresh watermelon juice and tonic water. Garnish with cucumber slices and fresh basil.

BADMINTON BLAST
HAPPY HORSESHOE 1 oz. gin ½ oz. Midori melon liqueur ½ oz. Blue Curacao 1 oz. fresh lemon juice Fill a rocks glass with ice and add gin, melon liqueur and Blue Curacao. Add lemon juice and garnish with fresh lemon slices.
1 oz. coconut rum ½ oz creme de banana 1 oz. pineapple juice Fill and rocks glass with ice and add rum and creme de banana. Add pineapple juice and garnish with fresh orange slices.
