Simple future  It is used to describe an action that will be performed in the

future  It doesn’t change if it’s a question, responce, positive or negative.  Words that are used in future tense:  Will, going to

 Examples:    

Will you go to the movies tomorrow? I will go to the movies. I will not go to the movies. I’m going to study with Alice and John.


Will or going  Will  Talk about future facts or things we believe to be true about the

future  To contract will remove “wi” and replace it with an apostrophe (‘)  Examples:

I'm sure you'll like her.  I'm certain he'll do a good job 

 If we are not so certain about the future, is accompanied with

expressions such as 'probably', 'possibly', 'I think', 'I hope‘  I'll possibly come but I may not get back in time.  I think we'll get on well.

 At the moment of making a decision  I’ll call Jenny, I know her phone number.


Will or going  Going  When you are making a future prediction based on evidence in

the present situation  If you plan to do something but isn’t certain  Usually after a previous statement  The traffic is terrible. We are going to miss our flight.  Be careful! You are going to spill your coffee.


Simple Present Future  Positive  Subject + will + base form of the verb + object (s)  Subject + going to + base form of verb + object (s)

 Negative  Subject + will + not + base for of verb + object (s)  Subject + isn’t going to +base form of verb + object (s)

 Question  (Question Word) + will + subject + base form of verb?


Simple Present  A verb that describes an action that is happening  Could stay the same as its base word, could add –es or -s

Simple Past  Used to express an idea that started and finished in the past  Normally verb + -ed, unless its an irregular verb  Examples:  I lived in Puerto Rico for two years.  I stayed the resort in Santo Domingo.  We talked to her about her behavior.
