Reduced to type
What happens if you reduce a street to its typographic elements? Is it still possible to recognise differences in the diverse environments? This magazine shows that it is indeed possible. With the examples of shopping areas, living areas and nightlife areas you can deduce that the amount, the frequency and the quality of the typography differs according to the surrounding environment.

shopping
The streets in the shopping areas are swamped with labels and supplies. If you detach the lettering from the context of buildings and the decoration in the shop windows it has an even greater effect than it usually does when it has so much distraction surrounding it.

The more you move towards the living areas of the city the less typography you will see around you. It is reduced to a minimum and nothing reminds you of the lettering chaos of the rest of the city.

Nightlife areas carry two different faces: a dark one and a light one. But both of them sport a typography that differs greatly from the one you can find in the shopping areas. It is dirty, rugged and colourful and ranges from underground up to highclass lettering.
