Sofan MOK I has had a passion for design since studying visual art at secondary school. I am currently studying communication design at the School of Design at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. I believe design is taken from the people and should be used for the people. I hope to serve the community through her profession. I want to be a great designer with mission to bring the good to the society and to be a person with goal, hope and responsibility.

Hong Kong Stories on Banknotes 紙幣上的香港故事 “ READ THE NOTES” is a project to show people a Hong Kong stories by using the familiar symbols, patterns and images on banknotes. Besides, it aims to show people that banknotes are not only a means of payment, they are also pieces of craftsmanship, visually document the social, cultural and historical development of our city. “READ THE NOTES” is a project to give our days stories about Hong Kong.

Visual Identity for NU Design This project is a brand refresh for NU Design, which with more than 20 years experience in quality design and manufacturing. NU Design founder Vincent Wong and his team leads the trend in environmentally friendly products. His contemporary range includes bags, stationery and gift items crafted with European recycled leather and lifestyle design products in wood, ceramics and steel. Simple yet stylish, subtle yet distinct are the best words to describe the sophisticated and award winning designs of NU products.

Logo Redesign for Chaptel Hangzhou This project is about redesigning the brand logo for Chaptel Hangzhou which is a deluxe boutique hotel in Hangzhou, was re¬stored from the Lakeside Village and operated since Sep 2013.. This project aims to observe, examine and analyze the original logo from different perspectives when using in various communication sur¬faces, such as the website, products, printings and mobile apps, and then develop an effective and instantly recognizable approach to present its brand.

The Brand Book of Chaptel Hangzhou This project is about writing a brand book for Chaptel Hangzhou. In this brand book, it present Chaptel verbally and visually, in order to ensure a more consistent treatment in all communications. This brand book basi¬cally aims to provide guidelines about the usage of the brand logo, corpo¬rate colors, typography, visual language, and related design applications for those working for presenting this brand and for public.

The VIP Cards & The Pack Design This project is to design 20 pieces of VIP cards for special guests of Chaptel Hangzhou. The idea of designing the VIP card was using 20 pieces of engravings that made by Mr. Lu Fang, who made a series of engravings about the Lakeside Village for Chaptel Hangzhou at the opening of the business, is the distinguished professor from the China Academy of Art.

Crafthetic is the combination of “craft” and “empathetic”. We want our visitors to appreciate the design concepts, intrinsic thoughts as well as craftsmanship of the handicraftsmen of BGCA through their art pieces.

Brand Building for Crathetic This is an art fair design collaboration project of HKBGCA with Hong Kong PolyU School of Design. Students from 3 streams including Communication Design, Advertising Design and Product Design made contributions with their specialties in 3 major areas: brand building, promotion strategies and booth setting design. This is the final outcome, a design guidelines manual of the brand—Crafthetic, which describe the verbal and visual elements that present Crafthetic’s identity.

Home & Tea In the conceptual Graphic-driven Products assignment, we needed to investigate product design through the perspective of a graphic designer. My design work is a set of tea wares created by the use of ceramic. ‘鄉茶’ (Home & Tea) is the theme of my product. In traditional Chinese communities, tea wares are essential for a family or home. Tea wares to me are the metaphor of a family, symbolizing the numbers of family members. Therefore, I made a set of ceramic tea ware as a gift for my grandfather and grandmother and which represent my love, thankfulness and blessing to them.

FIFA World Cup 2018 promotional product: Peanuts This project is about packaging design for 200g to 500g peanuts. The task of this project was to create a physical structure for containing the products, as well as graphic treatments for the appearance. These products are designed for FIFA World Cup 2018, aim to create a new experience for eating peanuts, to enhance people’s game watching experience at homes, in local bars or even in the sites of the games when using this product as well as to ease the process of collecting peanuts shell. They physically composite of container for the peanuts and rubbish bin for collecting peanut shells and easy for handling and save space for storage in order to reduce the transportation cost.

Playing Card Design For Moustache This is a group project. The group consisted of Sofan Mok, James Pollock, Coey Ho, Marcus Kung and Nicole Lee in a class of Art Direction. Moustache is a gentleman’s clothes shop run by Alex Daye and Ellis Kruger, they specialize in tropical casual wear and bespoke tailoring. The assignment for Moustache was to develop an idea for a pack of 52 playing cards that could be sold in their shop. The studios were encouraged to explore a wide range of creative ideas to produce high-quality, unique, designs that drew inspiration from the well-travelled dandy style of Moustache’s clothes and shop.

The Package For General Store This is a group project. The group consisted of Sofan Mok, James Pollock, Coey Ho, Marcus Kung and Nicole Lee in a class of Art Direction. General Store is a new and antique furniture store as well as a multi-disciplinary design studio run by Shelly Hayashi. Shelly wanted a new type of protective packaging for the more delicate objects that General Store stocks. In addition to this, the packaging had to take up a small amount of space when not in use, accommodate many shapes and sizes, reflect the sophisticated vintage aesthetic of the store and increase the sense of value of objects placed inside.

The Matchbox Design This is a group project. The group consisted of Sofan Mok, James Pollock, Coey Ho, Marcus Kung and Nicole Lee in a class of Art Direction. Yardbird is a modern yakitori (chicken skewers) restaurant run by Matt Abergel. For this project, the studios were asked to create designs for a matchbox or matchbook that Yardbird could give to customers. Yardbird has a trendy minimal aesthetic, using a limited palette of calm colours and simple graphics. Matt also comes from a skateboarding background and uses illustrations and artwork from artists who also work in skate graphics.

Wild Lotus The client is Patrick Creelman, Yoga instructor at Pure Yoga. Yoga is an ancient form of workout for the body and mind. It’s about feeling more, decreasing stress and finding grounding. Lots of teachers at Pure Yoga, different approaches. Patrick has his own style of yoga, called ‘Wild Lotus’. ‘Wild’ refers to natural, untamed power.Lotus is a plant that grows in boggy waters, it has its roots in the mud, its body in the water and the flower rests on top of the water. Wild Lotus is about power and precision. It combines two types of Yoga, the type that is about movement, breathing and flowing, and the type that is about aligning your body and holding positions.”Flow with precision”, “Science and art”.
