Dos Hermanas, Sevilla

Dos Hermanas, the southern gateway to Seville. Because of its attractiveness, we were approached to rehabilitate the former Bellavista Ceramics Factory. We decided to use all the existing elements, as both the dimensions and the state of these warehouses were very attractive and interesting for our vision of the project. In addition to [re]inhabiting the warehouses, we created spaces of transversality and walkability: green corridors that give the interior space luminosity, vitality and accessibility.

UMBRACULUM OF ART

02

The project arises from the ambition to create and provide the island of La Cartuja with a new space in which art, artists and the city create a community in constant exchange. The choice of the building’s materiality is intended to mimic the difference between the built and the nature. The decision to choose a light steel structure is made so that the fusion with the constructive elements of the building takes place in a lighter way, where permeability, porosity and movement play an essential role. The atmosphere created in the interior in combination with the vegetation and fluidity of the space will be the meeting point between space, art and architecture. The building will be understood as a greenhouse, in which the vegetation will take over the interior, enveloping it and creating a cosy and intimate space.

The main intention of the project was to generate urban diversity through fragmentation, sequencing and volumetric diversity. The second main intention of the project was to enhance the proposed green axis through open spaces between the volumes, as well as large landscaped areas.

In one of the areas with the greatest opportunity in Seville, the port district, a large Museum of Architecture is proposed that is capable of accommodating the city's need to give importance to the architecture that, during its golden age, served as an example for other countries. A promenade is proposed through which spatiality and exhibition are integrated. A tour through the museum that will allow not only to exhibit works inside, but also to enjoy natural works such as the Guadalquivir River.
