Point Loma, CA. --- The 2013 Veterans Charity event always rallies the gifting and attendance of those with charitable hearts and minds. It’s a renewal of friendships in a community that appreciates the tireless commitments of those who support our safety and our way of life. The Softball and Corporate community make up 85% of the weekends donations. It helps that softball plays a part as contractors, service men & women, veterans, and companies compete to grab the coveted title as Tournament Champions on the softball diamond. The current cup has the same name “Team Solare” on each of its previous two etchings. IT IS ON in 2013 as police, fire, military, restaurateurs, and defense contractors built their teams for pride and bragging rights. The 14 teams played in a Bat Provided EASTON BRING UR REAL SKILZ format. It saw strong performances all day from multiple Command, Civilian, First Responders, and Contractor teams in a 2 loss and out bracket. The day’s events with softball, food, games, giveaways, raffles, and government/charity booths helped raise $69,500 in donations. This year the Softball tournament final culminated with Team Solare and Coast Guard SD1 meeting in the championship final. Team Solare took an early 2nd inning lead as Coast Guard SD1 trailed 8-2. In the 3rd inning Coast Guard SD1 put a shot across the bow of Team Solare as they knocked their pitcher Mike Mills out of the game with a smash into his right thigh. He was fine but left the game and so did Team Solare’s lead as Coast Guard SD1 scored 7 runs for a 9-8 lead that lasted until the 5th inning . They were lead by Captain Robert Taylor and Petty Officer 3rd class Raymond Gonzalez. The tenor of the Championship soon changed as the crowd of 500 donors and guests soon took greater interest. It inspired the two teams as multiple double plays and 4 spectacular diving catches entertained the boisterous crowd. A fiery Team Solare took control in the bottom of the

5th with a bases loaded triple to right field by Chris Chaney. It was followed by a Matt Chamberlain 3-run homerun. Team Solare entered the 6th inning with a 14-9 lead. Coast Guard SD1 failed to score as replacement pitcher Chris Chaney held them to 1 hit and no runs in the last 4 innings after the injured Mills left the game. Team Solare Ristorante won the Championship by a score of 18-9. Team Solare graciously donated all its awards for additional donations on the spot. Shortstop Matt Chamberlin of Team Solare was named the MVP and received a ceremonial torch that he donated for auction as well. Matt with several Recovering Warrior honorees had the honor of lighting the event concluding ceremonial bonfire with their torches. The goal of the weekend is to bring awareness and funding through interaction and contributions. The services reach civilian community service members, Law Enforcement, First-Responders, Wounded and Recovering Warriors, Deployed service member’s children, and our Retired and Active Duty service members in need. The multi-event contributions support WWP, Operation Mend, Military Families, San Diego Charities, Cancer Charities, and Got Your 6. It’s inspiring to see many of the same people each year competing, contributing, and having fun. This event over 3 years has grown into the finest collection of local, national, and corporate supporters. The amount raised and donated of $69,500 will benefit many worthy recipients and programs. The focus this year with all the participating contributors and those involved in giving was to focus on specific needs. Fund the programs that touch people and impact positively those in need. To understand how this works the teams of professionals involve themselves in various support genres. Here is an agenda example across multiple charities of how decisions are made for funding

and support services determination. Organizers and charities talk with those in need and focus interactive groups on the distinctions between knowing what is needed and listening to the affected parties concerns and specific requirements. The Charities forums give program directors valuable understanding and awareness for utilizing their resources. The example is injured and recovering veterans, children of active duty service members, or first responders talking about their experiences openly in different settings. Hearing their stories and testimonials gives you definition of their trauma endured and support needs for positive change. Each individual or families case allows better understanding for more defined support programs, Physical Health & Wellness, and Independence programs across various need thresholds. The collaborations and event help to make the funds make a difference in people’s lives. Team Solare Ristorante helped raise over $11,000 in support. The event was a great success for the community and special thanks went out to all the participants and benefactors. Orlando, FL. --- 18 teams competed for the USSSA Men's Major World Series at Disney’s Wide World of Sports. The Dudley ZN Stadium ball with a .47 Core and 525 Compression was used. The key games were broadcast on USSSA Live and ESPN 3 for the first time. Early games were mostly predictable as the top teams moved on. Thursday was a true moving day where the top winner bracket teams met to test their championship form and populate the loser’s bracket. Shoppe/Tyja/Louisville Slugger downed GTL/Doerflinger/R&M Easton 20-7. LaserVision beat TaylorMade 19-4 victory. Red's Astros was run-ruled by Resmondo - Specialty Tank/Worth 43-27. Demarini/Dirty beat “A” World Champs Nordkap 2422. The winner bracket semi-finals was now set. In the first Semi-Final LaserVision wore out a valiant Shoppe/Tyja 33-24. Laservision scored 19 runs in the 5th and 6th innings displaying their dominance. Resmondo was on quite a roll up to this point but found themselves in a dog fight with Demarini/Dirty for a trip to the winner’s bracket final. Resmondo hitters Greg Connell and Jeremy Yates supplied the firepower that propelled Resmondo to a 14-7 victory. The winner’s bracket final was dominated by the long ball. After the end of the 3rd inning Laservision lead Resmondo 10-7. This is where Resmondo found their stride as they put up 13 runs in the fourth on 7 bombs. Laservision answered with four runs and they went to the 5th inning down 20-14. Laservision never really recovered as Resmondo dominated the late innings and seized a trip to the Championship game with a 28-20 victory.

Fortune Road, Kissimmee, FL. --- The USSSA 'B' World Tournament featured 31 teams from across the nation. When the final out was called Chaps/BWW/Worth/Buzini from Jackson, Mississippi was crowned the 2013 USSSA 'B' World Champions with a perfect 6-0 record. Chaps averaged 22 runs per game to outscore their competition. The tournament started off as highly ranked Famous/Premier/Easton fell to Bella's/MOJO/Miken 2621. Rhode Island’s Valley Motors decapitated Head Hunters/OILivingston/MWA 20-2. Then John Redihan of Valley Motors/ Reebok /Easton/VTS hit a walk-off seventh inning homerun defeating ASPNation.com/Easton 11-9. B&B/Sears/BMW team from Clayton, NC. trailed midway through the game to #1 ranked Pure Romance out of Cincinnati, OH. B&B rallied around momentum turning hits and crucial defensive plays by their infielders. The play was heated and tempers flared as players were

In the loser’s bracket GTL made an impressive run with four big wins. However Laservision was not going to be denied as they beat GTL 23-20 to punch their ticket to the Major World Series final. The 2013 Major World Series final was filled with intensity as Laservision came out early offensively on a Brian Wegman grand slam and led after two innings 10-2. It could have been worse if Resmondo’s Jimmy Salas had not made an inning saving double play at 3rd base. Laservision lead 14-3 in the third inning. Resmondo answered with only two runs and trailed 14-5. In the fourth Resmondo pitcher Andy Purcell held Laservision scoreless. Resmondo bats answered with an 8 run fourth on 3 multirun homers by Howie Krause, BJ Fulk, and Jeremy Yates. Resmondo closed the gap to 14-13. Resmondo batters Bubba Mack and BJ Fulk keyed a nine run inning that pushed them to 22-14 lead. In the 6th inning Laservision put up 11 runs on homers by Scott Kirby

and Brett Helmer to lead 23-22. Resmondo was able to get 3 runs on 5 hits and take a 25-23 lead into the 7th inning. Laservision continued to hit well as they plated 9 runs in their top of the 7th and they led 31-25. In the bottom of the inning Howie Krause and Andy Purcell hit clutch homers to help Resmondo close the gap to 31-29. Resmondo's got a BJ Fulk single, a Jimmy Salas BB, and Don DeDonatis Jr doubled through the middle infield to bring Resmondo to within one run with runners on second and third. Bubba Mack hit a sacrifice fly ball to left field and knotted the game at 31-31. In the 9th inning Resmondo's Bubba Mack came to the plate and their young star delivered. Mack crushed the game winning walk-off homer over the left center field fence for the victory and Resmondo's 8 Major World Series titles since the USSSA Conference began. Travis Resmondo stated, “We are a proud organization and winning the Major is always our #1 team goal.”

ejected but they returned in later games. B&B/Sears went on to score 25-10 win. This outcome would prove beneficial to B&B as they began a deep run at this World Series. The second day exhibited low scoring and tight contests. The result was that in all the tense and competitive action, top teams began to falter. A season of hope and promise would be dashed as Famous/Premiere/Easton, DEI/S&S/Scott's/Easton, TG Brand.MOJO.Easton, Theraldson. and Primetime fell early. Trust, ASPNation, Headhunters, 3rd Street, Bellas, and Fence Brokers were soon to follow. Precision, Pure Romance, Xtreme/Miken, and OC Swats/Easton were out as the 31 team field was now down to its final four. The USSSA 'B' World Winner’s bracket final featured Chaps and Team Adiktiv/Dynasty for the favored position where only a double dip could ruin their grasp on the coveted 2013 'B' Title. Chaps was kept the pressure on each inning with their potent offense and timely defense. Team Adiktiv fell short in the late innings when their bats cooled. Chaps finished off Team Adiktiv 32-24 and moved on to await one of the three worthy suitors to the title.

In the losers bracket Valley Motors and B&B/Sears/BMW had a southern showdown. The teams were tied in the seventh until B&B sent them home with a 24 -19 win. B&B was now squarely in the sights of the favored Team Adiktiv. The loser bracket final was tight as expected. B&B was relentless on defense and with their pitching Team Adiktiv’s opportunities were cold-turkeyed. B&B went on to win a 18-15 victory and a chance at the B World title. The Championship was dominated by Chaps as they laid it to a taxed B&B who appeared to have no answer to the consistent scoring of Chaps. Buzini was overpowering and grabbed the title with a 25-16 victory. Chaps/BWW/Worth/Buzini out of Jackson, MS. was crowned the 2013 USSSA 'B' World Champions. They were lead by Tournament MVP Billy Maggard, Offensive MVP Chad Loudon, and Defensive MVP Don Plaisance. They placed six additional players on the All Tournament team. Chaps player Jake Mays stated, “Our organization was sound from top to bottom and our offense gave us the edge all weekend.”

Clean is in and clutter is out. Color is optional. Mizuno's customized bat line has transformed the softball industry with a cool new look that enables teams to create a bat combing performance and style. All the bells and whistles that players have come to love about Mizuno bats -- a lightweight end cap design, cushioned grip, balanced barrel and anti-shock construction -- are included in this revolutionary “Whiteout” model. It's also loaded with 3Z technology to maximize the sweet spot and black onyx carbon to add durability. Yet it's the crisp look that has players across the country raving. “Mizuno has received a tremendous response from travel and high school fastpitch athletes about the bat,” said Chad Robertson, Mizuno USA Business Unit Manager, Bats and Batting Gloves. “The players love the look of the bat and the sound of the ball at impact.” The sound is familiar to anyone who plays travel or high school ball. “The 3Z technology targets three zones of the barrel to enhance and create a massive sweet spot for increased performance across the whole barrel,” Robertson said. “The black onyx carbon increases the pop off the bat for a better performance at the plate. The material is designed to ensure maximum consistency and performance from each bat.” Some college teams are showcasing the customized bats as well, only NCAA limits logo usage so may opt to feature school colors instead. There is a one-time set-up fee to add a logo to your custom bat design. Any team can customize their bats at no additional charge. With 17 colorful options to choose from, teams will have no trouble finding the right color combination. Mizuno's web site allows players to customize the overall look of their bat. They can choose a cushioned, digi-grip or performance grip in black or gray. The barrel top and knob can be colorized, while the end knob can also feature the players' number. For orders of 12 or more bats, teams can also add their logo on the side of the bat. In 2014, Mizuno is cleaning up the clutter and giving players an opportunity to showcase their talent and their personality.

It took three years for the Carolina Cardinals to get to Salem, VA. A journey defined not by wins or losses, but by the memory of a beloved coach. The seasons changed. Along the way, some players did too. But the Cardinals remained resolute in their quest -- never wavering in their belief that they would one day honor team founder Ray Chandler by capturing an ASA National Championship. It wasn't supposed to take three years. But the wait only made the destination more meaningful. Before Chandler passed away on Sept. 23, 2010, the Cardinals considered themselves contenders. And rightfully so. The program that Chandler formed in 1989 is loaded with talent. So much so that two squads eventually pooled their skills to create a U18 team that reached nationals in 2011 and 2012. "The theme of playing every time out was the memory of our founder Ray Chandler," said Cardinals coach Rick McHone. They overcame injuries to two star players and a stunning 1-0 loss in the 2012 national finals and still the Cardinals "played for Ray." Even after slugger Taylor Woods broke her leg and UNC recruit Elena Covert suffered a quad injury, nothing got in their way. The Cardinals went undefeated in Salem to win the ASA crown and achieved yet another honor in Chandler's memory by becoming the Softball Today Magazine U18 ASA Team of the Year. The Cardinals, who are also coached by assistants

They promised to stick together and finish what Phil Berry started. After two seasons together, the Atlanta Vipers recognized that they had something special going, So when the head coach who created a southern powerhouse by essentially merging two Georgia programs into a national contender moved on to Harding University, the players vowed to bring home the ASA National Championship they began striving for in 2011. "Phil is an amazing coach and really put together the program that set the team on the road to success," said Vipers coach Todd Jennings. "The majority of this team has played together for two years now so we have built on the foundation

Mike Calloway, Vic Scott and Jamie Harris, out-played an 89-team field -- occasionally in dramatic fashion. They combined terrific pitching from Katie Williford, Lacey Fox, Sarah Davis and Lexi Shubert with timely hitting and some sensational defense to win the program's second title since 2006. Aquilla “Kiwi” Mateen led the team with a 4 for 4 performance in a 4-0 victory over the Pennsylvania Sports Connection in the winner's bracket finals and the Cardinals rallied from an early one-run deficit to defeated the Sports Connection once again in the title game. Shubert tossed a complete-game three-hitter and Mateen provided the offensive fireworks once again by going 3 for 4. Catcher

Bailey Bjorson had two hits. "This ASA National Championship was the culmination of several years of hard work," coach McHone said. "It took a dedication to team and to each other, and of many different pieces put together, building towards a common goal." It took three years for the Carolina Cardinals to get to Salem, VA. For the players -- Kiersten Berrier, Ashley Best, Destiny DeBerry, Bjorson, Madison Carter, Davis, Fox, Christiana Gable, Meredith Harris, Ashlea Hunter, Brea Lawson, Tara Loken, Mateen, Haley Pace, Shubert, Haley Stewart, Taylor Wike, Williford, Logan Wood, Mellena Helms and Wood -- it was the journey that made the final result meaningful.

that Phil created and the girls' promise to him that they would stay together and bring home a championship." The Vipers relied on virtually the same lineup that qualified for nationals in 2012. They added pitcher Abby Evans to an already formidable rotation and introduced super slugger Carli Kayler to the rest of the world. The result was an incredible combination of slap and smash that propelled the Vipers to an ASA National title and the unique distinction of becoming the Softball Today Magazine U16 Team of the Year. The Vipers are relentless on offense -- coming at opposing teams with two waves of quickness and power that often overwhelm even the craftiest pitchers. At ASA Nationals, they posted an 8-0 record that culminated with a 9-5 victory over the CA Lady Magic in the finals. It should be noted that the

offense is so potent that Kayler, who bats seventh, led the team with seven home runs at nationals. But the onslaught typically started with Lydia Witkowski, who Jennings describes as "one of the most dynamic players in the country." She is followed by Meghan Rud, a skilled bunter and base runner who has developed into a clutch power hitter as well. The heart of the order, which features Sierra Maddox and Mississippi State recruits Taylor Kelly and Morgan Bell, accounted for the first wave of attack. Reagan Morgan, who bats fifth, is regarded as a second leadoff batter because she has all the tools to get on base. Then comes Keyler, who hit a pair of home runs in the Vipers' first game at Nationals - a resounding 9-0 victory over the CA Breeze. Kinsley Jennings, Laine Simmons, Rachel Karlan, Rachel Jarvis and Caroline Cash each spent time in either the 8th or 9th spot and contributed to a batting order that produced 23 home runs over eight games in Sunnyvale. The pitching was equally brilliant with Jennings, Bridgette Rainey, Amanda Storch and Evans dominating in the circle as the Vipers completed their promise to coach Berry by defeating the Magic in the title game. "Looking forward to next season. I again expect big things from this group of young ladies at the Gold level," coach Jennings said. More speed, more power and another promise worth keeping.
