CAMERON MAY is Music Director of SOGO and the SPSCC Symphony Orchestra at South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia, Washington, and the Portland Festival Symphony in Portland, Oregon. During his tenure at SPSCC, in addition to conducting the orchestra, Mr. May has taught courses in college and career success, ear training, music fundamentals, and music theory, served as interim director of the SPSCC Jazz Band, and helped to build and launch the Associate in Music direct transfer degree.
Mr. May received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Colorado Boulder and a Master of Music degree in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Illinois at UrbanaChampaign. He continues to maintain his violin playing through his position as Principal Second Violin with the Lake Chelan Bach Fest Orchestra each July. When not conducting, teaching, or playing violin, Mr. May can be found reading on his back porch, walking in the woods, or going out of his way to chase after Amtrak trains.
DANIELLE TOBIN, soprano, is a recent graduate of the New England Conservatory. She’s sung roles and partial roles such as Miss Jessel in Britten’s The Turn of the Screw, Frau Fluth in Nicolai’s The Merry Wives of Windsor, and Pamina in an English translation of Mozart’s The Magic Flute. As a previous SOGO student for half a blink, she’s very excited to be able to sing with the orchestra today.
CRYSTAL ZIMMERMAN, mezzo-soprano, has made her home in the Pacific Northwest since the summer of 2004. Currently, she works as Music Faculty at St. Martin’s University, along with being a founding member of Olympia Opera Theatre, Vox Olympia, and Forza la Femme. In 2022 she performed as a soloist with the Vratsa Symphony in Bulgaria under the baton of Nickolas Carlson. Crystal Zimmerman received her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Texas Tech University.
DAN COLGAN, tenor, is a graduate of Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ. He has served as the Organist and Director of Music at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Olympia, WA since November of 2010. He is also the voice instructor at Centralia College, a co-Dean of the Olympia Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, and the Founder and Director of the Capital City Chorus of Olympia.
A resident of Shelton, WA, PAUL NAKHLA, baritone, performs regularly in the South Puget Sound, primarily in concert settings. He is a charter member of Vox Olympia, the premier chamber choir of the region, and has sung professionally with Seattle Pro Musica, the Olympia and Bremerton Symphonies, St. Martin’s University Symphony and Chorale, The Great Bend Chorale, and numerous other music organizations. Nakhla has served on the music faculties of South Puget Sound Community College and Olympic College and directed choirs at Shelton High School for the past two decades.
