FIVE-POINTS MA R TA S TAT I O N , AT L A NTA
F IVE-POINTS • Five Points Station is the largest and most heavily used on the system as it functions as the transfer point between the Red and Gold (northsouth) and Blue and Green (east-west) rail lines. In the heart of Atlanta’s downtown, Five Points Station attracts an inbound ridership of workers, students and visitors heading to the downtown’s myriad of office buildings, shops and restaurants, cultural and educational institutions. • Five Points has Zip cars as well as local, regional, and shuttle bus connections. A Ride Store, Reduced Fare Office, and Lost and Found are located at Five Points. • At this station, you have the opportunity to watch and play soccer at the world’s first transit soccer league or visit the Fresh MARTA Market, a pop-up produce stand, every Friday from 3 – 7pm. • The MARTA Transit-Oriented Development Guidelines typology classify Five Points Station as an Urban Core station. • Urban Core stations are metropolitan-level destinations at or near the center of the transportation system, where peak hour congestion is most challenging.

AREAS OF STUDY
COMMUNITY ENGAGING
• Exploring and strengthening synergies between transit and surrounding neighborhoods. • Making public plazas and activities to be more natural so that it can become a gravity point for activities and revitalizing adjacent neighborhood. • To make them integral part of community life, a Place that people come to a part of their every day life. • Linking transit to existing public places to be the simplest strategy.
ECONOMY GENERATIVE
• Transit brings customers to support and promote local businesses of all sizes. • To explore the possible amenities that could go with the transit. • To explore type of fixed retail structures and temporary mobile kiosks.
DESIGN STRATEGIES

DESIGN CONCEPT A GEM IN THE FOREST
Q UA R T Z A M E T H Y S T
In 1976 quartz was designated as the state’s official gemstone. Many varieties of quartz crystals can be found in Georgia. Some of these include amethyst, clear quartz and rutile. VA LU E S T H E A M E T H Y S T E N R I C H E S
The violet range of quartz called Amethyst can be found in abundance at the Jackson’s Crossroad Mine, situated in the Wilkes County of Georgia. The colors of the amethyst at the mine range from light violet to darker shades of purple often with streaks of blue and red Variety of quartz with a trigonal crystal system and hardness of 7. Color varies from pale to Deep purple and is derived from trace amounts of iron and aluminum.

3D structure can be arrange in a helix-chain like way (imagine a DNA string) resulting in the famous quarts rods with the pointy pyramid on the top. BUT we can also have this chain instead of going in a straight direction closing a loop or a ring resulting in a quartz structure with a hollow core. This core can also trap different cations (positive charge ions) and impurities resulting in those beautiful colorful crystals.

Then they are given characteristic script based on quartz crystalline structure. Two options are made by two random alternate positions of those 38 points on site.
