WELCOME TO
anon anon magazine showcases outstanding visual images created by final-year students studying BA (Hons) Fashion Styling or BA (Hons) Make-Up and Hair Design at Southampton Solent University. Conceived by the students, the photographs reveal the imaginative creative process that takes an idea from initial concept to final image, with the collaboration of a team. Here we can see the extraordinary talents of the future, in fashion styling, make-up, hair design, fashion photography and fast-evolving digital media platforms. The images submitted for this third annual issue of anon have been chosen by an editorial team of final-year students, consisting of Ashleigh Prime, Katie Champain and Emily Murphy, and anon editor and senior lecturer Jane de Teliga.
STUDENT EDITORIAL TEAM Ashleigh Prime BA (Hons) Fashion Styling I have always had a love for all things fashion, and the fashion styling course at Southampton Solent University has given me the opportunity to see how the industry works. Over the past three years at Solent, I have had the freedom to explore a range of different areas, from styling to make-up, as well as photography and video. With amazing help from my tutors, I’ve managed to produce the kind of work which I can happily include in my professional portfolio and website. I can’t wait to work in the industry as a stylist or creative director and feel I would thrive as part of an inspirational fashion team.
Emily Murphy BA (Hons) Make-Up and Hair Design Being at Solent University has given me the chance to immerse myself in many aspects of the creative industry. The course has enabled me to learn more about myself than I could have imagined. Though challenging at times, my experience has always been rewarding. It’s been exciting to gain knowledge from a wide range of lecturers and tutors, all from varied professional backgrounds. The feedback and support available at university has been crucial to me, and the skills I have learnt are invaluable for my career. It’s been great to be part of a course that has given me an insight into practical, written and conceptual elements.
Katie Champain BA (Hons) Fashion Styling Over my three years at Southampton Solent University, I have really developed my creative eye in all processes of styling and image making. My passion for graphic layouts and photo editing has particularly shone in my final year, while producing a unique graphic novel using my photographs. I could take any number of paths into the fashion industry with the diverse skills I have acquired at university. I’ve have been lucky enough to have the experience of working on many different projects, creating both still images and moving footage, which has begun to prepare me for the wide world of fashion!

Emi Prescott BA (Hons) Fashion Styling Concept: The theme for this shoot was using subtle colours but in a bold and effective way.
