Concept

Crownfish

The concept of my animation is a clownfish. The clownfish is a type of fish that lives in salt water habitats. It is also called an Anemonefish. Clownfish are typically very bright, orange fish that have three white stripes, one at the head, middle and tail. If you look really closely, you may notice that there are thin black lines around the white stripes. Also, the tips of their fins have a thin black rounded stripe.

clownfish use their fins for movement through water. Fins are used for directing, stabilizing, or propelling the fish in water. Each of the fins on a fish are designed to perform a specific function.

Movement

Dorsal fins - The dorsal fin is located on the backs of fish. The Clownfish has Dorsal fins to lend stability in swimming. Ventral fins- The ventral fin is located on the pelvic area of fish. The Clownfish have Ventral fins to lend stability in swimming just like Dorsal fins do. Caudal fins- The Caudal fin is located on the tail area of fish. The Clownfish has Caudal fins to propel through the water. Pectoral fins- The Pectoral fin is located on the breast area of fish. The Clownfish has Pectoral fins to for locomotion and side to side movement.

SimulationnceOpt

I created my concept animation in maya. I thought about their movement and how it changed and how their patterns match with water. I showed their striped body patterns and eyes and movement through the animation.

The key point of this project is not just augmented reality projection mapping but also using this mapping with motion. In the first step, I created my object in maya and used a laser cutting machine to make it. I worked with an arduino+servo motor to move my object, and I made the animation for projection mapping in Maya to created different textures on it. I used 3D Maya for making an animation of my concept.

Technical test Arduino+servo

The key point of this project is not just augmented reality projection mapping but also using this mapping with motion. so I needed to make my object move. During my initial tests, I tried using Arduino with a stepper motor but matching the movement with the object kept failing. So, instead I used servo with processing which solved the matching problem.

I used servo for control the object with processing program.

I chose switch to control my object.

I connected wires and resistance for switch

Mapping test

Projection mapping, also known as video mapping and spatial augmented reality. By using speclialized software, a twoor three dimensional object is spatially mapped on the virtual program which minics the real enviroment is it to be projected on.

I used photoshop to tracking line
