A composition of various elements expanding in surface, creating layers of movement, shapes and color that recreate a visual score of how it is felt to listen to music. Composers create their music within, they need to score their music so it can be interpreted over and over again. To me, music is by far the most emotional of all the arts, for it does need the mind to rationalize it, it can only be felt. A musical score tells the interpreter how to locate the sound in time so it can be heard in space. I wanted to create a visual notation of what it feels when I listen to specific pieces of music; although I have a profound connection to sound, I am unable to play any instrument despite my early musical training. These studies start from a drawing made with graph paper and pencil, then they are scanned and re-drawn line by line in the computer, then they are printed again drawn over with graphite, so on and so forth. For Mana, I created a 44ft site specific installation, based on three drawings, these repeat in form and scale through out the wall, I have used paint, graphite, glass, acrylic, tape, rulers, lasers, a projector to make the drawing live. a short animation can be seen on a vertical 70 " monitor.
