July reopening for iconic hotel

Pedro Pablo Hernández, the president of the Regional Confederation of Business Organizations of Cartagena (COEC), visited the Hotel Doblemar, in La Manga, that will reopen the doors to the public this summer after remaining closed for the past four years. The managing director of the company that has managed the refurbishment project, Roc Hotels group in Murcia, Inocencio García, the president of the Federation of Associations of Employers of the Union, Carlos Bernabé, and the president of Hostetur, Maria del Mar Martinez were part of the accompanying group of local dignitaries that visited the hotel complex. The reopening of the hotel at a cost of €5m – which has 506 rooms, 450 of which are already completed - is scheduled for July. It’s expected to give around 100 jobs to the area along with a boost to the local economy. By choosing this hotel for such a substantial investment in its refurbishment, the Roc Hotels group has shown great confidence in the Mar Menor area as it attracts more tourism. Pedro Pablo Hernández confirmed the support of the entrepreneurs of the region of Cartagena. “The reopening of Doblemar shows an economic injection and an encouragement for an increase of tourists in the area at a time when to invest in La Manga and especially the Mar Menor is important,” said the president of COEC. The Majorcan chain, Roc Hotels, has more than twenty hotels located in the islands of Mallorca and Menorca, as well as other tourist attractions on the Iberian Peninsula such as Costa Almería, Costa del Sol and Marbella.
