THE TIME HAS COME t: 950 121 936 - e: sales@soltimes.com - www.soltimes.com
For the first time, the Governor of the Bank of Spain, Luis Maria Linde, has publicly acknowledged that the time has come “to provide an overview of the Bank of Spain’s performance during the 2008-2012 period.” In an article published on Friday, Linde recalls that the supervisor
has been reporting on his actions during the crisis, but now he advocates a global analysis without specifying what formula. “Having overcome the crisis and stabilized the new European supervision and, within the framework of this, the supervision of the Bank of Spain, it is surely the moment to
offer an overview of what the Bank’s performance during the period 20082012 “Says the governor. We can count on the support of the PSOE to ask for the creation of a commission of investigation on the financial crisis, something that, until now, has blocked the Popular Party.
The loss of an absolute majority of the PP could lead to the formation of the commission of investigation of the crisis. This initiative came after knowing that until December 2015 the cost of the restructuring process of the old crates was 60,718 million, of which 41,786 million were

contributed by the FROB and 18,932 million by the Deposit Guarantee Fund Of banks, according to the Court of Auditors . This agency estimated in a report at 122,222 million the total resources of the State and the sector “committed” with the bank, although it clarifies that the real
invoice will not be known until privatizing all the banks. Linde admits that national and international institutions, including the Bank of Spain, committed “major forecasting errors” during the crisis. But the governor believes it necessary to distinguish between errors and actions of legal reproach.

Cala Mosca Vote At the request of Marina Albiol, the spokeswoman for the United Left at the European Parliament, the Committee on Petitions will debate the plan to build another 1,500 new homes in Cala Mosca, the very last virgin kilometer of coastline along the Orihuela Costa. The debate will take place in the session scheduled for 28 February
Albiol said “it is very sad that there are still such projects that we thought we had already overcome, and more regrettable that they still occur in an area so punished by fierce construction, as is the case of the coastline of the Vega Baja. That is why all the efforts we can take to halt this plan will be extremely important. ”

About us
Although many Removal firms nowadays claim to be a 'family business' few actually are. This is where we are different. We pride ourselves on giving each individual job (regardless of size) a personal service that is second to none, and in achieving complete customer satisfaction. After all, it’s our reputation - our name - at stake, so we do all we can to maintain our high standards and also meet those of the customer. It's for this reason that a majority of our work is due to recommendation.
Spain and France
We specialise in relocations to and from France and Spain, and often have weekly loads going to both destinations. By combining knowledge of the European laws with local information and years of overseas experience, we have managed to remain as reliable in Europe as we are in England, and consequently have built up a good reputation in both countries. We work closely alongside several English-run storage companies in Spain, allowing us greater flexibility with our customers on both sides. All work within our guidelines and adhere to our high standards. We have become one of their top recommended removal companies for moves to and from the UK, and still remain the removal company of choice for many ex-pats.
European Removals
We offer a professional yet personal service to and from most parts of Europe and will gladly tailor make a package to suit your individual needs. We understand that flexibility and reliability is of utmost importance to our customers, especially when moving overseas and we aim to cover both areas within the services we offer. Quotations for European moves follow the same protocol as for domestic UK removals (see ‘Quotations ‘). They require an estimator to visit your home (where possible) or can be submitted via ‘Online Quotes’ . You may wish to email your enquiry to: fredphillipsremovalsltd@ymail.com
Full or Part Loads
The main options to consider in a European move are how big your load is likely to be, and whether you require your belongings on a specific date, or just within a certain timescale. We offer two main services to cover these options: • Full Load - You pay for sole use of the vehicle. Gives you full control (as far as is possible) over the collection and delivery of your belongings, allowing you to work to a specific date. • Part Load - The cost effective option. You have part use of the vehicle along with other loads going via the same route to their destinations. Collection can still be when you require, but delivery is arranged on a full vehicle (cost efficient) basis. However, we will still do our best to work within your time frame.
Storage
We offer Storage Facilities both in the UK and in Spain. We can store anything from single items to full house loads, for any duration.
Our Storage Facilities offer the following: • 24 hour Security and Surveillance • Heated Warehouse • Full Insurance • Flexibility
Storage is charged on a weekly basis and customers are invoiced monthly. For more specific information please email us at: fredphillipsremovalsltd@ymail.com
Both services can have storage incorporated into the move, and both offer the same experienced, dedicated customer care service from planning and preparation right through to delivery. Spain and France: We specialise in relocations to and from France and Spain, and often have weekly loads going to both destinations. By combining knowledge of the European laws with local information and years of overseas experience, we have managed to remain as reliable in Europe as we are in England, and consequently have built up a good reputation in both countries. All work within our guidelines and adhere to our high standards. We have become one of their top recommended removal companies for moves to and from the UK, and still remain the removal company of choice for many ex-pats.
Aims: Our goal is to make your relocation overseas a completely stress free experience from start to finish, (as far as the removal is concerned!) and to maintain customer satisfaction throughout.

Air Jordan I retro high
Overview
The Nike Explore Team Sport Research Lab is philosophically and physically at the heart of the NIKE, Inc. World Headquarters in Beaverton, Ore. It began as a small lab in Exeter, N.H. more than 30 years ago, and has grown into a world-class research facility harnessing dedicated brainpower
and state-of-the-science research equipment unequalled in the sporting goods industry. Carrying on the traditions of Nike’s original sport researcher Bill Bowerman the lab continues to deliver proven scientific insights that help drive performance innovations across the Nike brand.
More than 30 years after the debut of the Air Jordan I, Nike Golf is introducing the iconic silhouette to the course. “MJ introduced his provocative style of play to professional basketball in 1984, and the Air Jordan I shocked the world at the same time,” says Gentry Humphrey, VP Nike Golf Footwear. “Interestingly, Michael started to take up the game of golf in 1984, the exact same year Nike started to develop the Air Jordan I.” Entering Jordan’s rookie year, Nike looked for a way to create a shoe that could match his other-worldly talents on the court while also defying the status quo. “The Air Jordan I was the first sneaker that really pushed the limits on what was acceptable,” recalls Michael Jordan. “It’s like being a young kid, when his parents say he can’t do something but he wants to do it. I felt like I wanted to be different.” This limited offering features a few notable changes from the original basketball shoe, including extra padding to provide additional comfort and support around the ankle, Jumpman logo on the tongue, Nike Free-inspired outsole with soft spikes and a fully waterproof upper. The Air Jordan I golf shoe will be available in two colorways (white/black/varsity red and white/metallic silver) beginning Feb. 10 at nike. com and select retailers for a suggested retail price of $200.

Herbal supplements illegal ingredients pose health risk Many herbal supplements, including for obesity and erectile dysfunction, contain hidden unlicensed pharmaceutical ingredients that could endanger people’s health, experts have warned. The research teams, concluded that not only do such supplements often make unverified claims as to their benefits but some have illegal ingredients which could pose a threat – potentially causing low blood pressure or an increased risk of heart attacks. The substances are unlicensed medicines as they are appearing in products classified as food supplements. Among the most common substances identified was
sibutramine, according to the study, published in the Journal of the Association of Public Analysts. Sibutramine was licensed as the medicine Reductil until 2010, when it was withdrawn across Europe and the US due to an increased risk of heart attacks and strokes associated with the use of the drug. Tadalafil and sulfoaildenafil were among the most frequently u n d e c l a r e d ingredients in products for erectile dysfunction. When taken with other medicines containing nitrates, they can lower blood pressure drastically and cause serious health problems.
Ambulance services are increasingly calling in private firms to respond to 999 calls in the latest sign that NHS care providers are struggling to cope with the sharply rising number of patients who need urgent medical attention. The London ambulance service (LAS) has had the biggest increase among
England’s 10 regional ambulance trusts. The amount it spent on private ambulance providers soared from £700,000 in 2011 to £10.1m last year, a thirteen-fold increase. Many other NHS ambulance services are also spending more of their budgets on private firms because of their growing reliance on them
to meet demand. For example, the amount paid out by South East Coast ambulance service (Secamb), which covers Kent, Sussex and Surrey, rose from £5.8m in 2012 to £11.6m last year, though it spent even more than that, £14.5m, in 2014. Similarly, Yorkshire ambulance service paid
private services £1.85m in 2014-15 to respond to 10,862 incidents. Last year that jumped to to £7m for attending 38,821 incidents. The number of calls for assistance in London to which private ambulances have responded rose from 5,024 in 2011 to 59,749 last year. The figure includes both 999 calls and non-urgent journeys to hospital or other medical appointments. The trend has sparked serious concern about the NHS’s chronic shortage of paramedics, which has coincided with big annual rises in emergency calls to all 10 ambulance services in England. “We should not be offering this out to the lowest bidder. It’s not what people want or expect, and the NHS needs more paramedics.” He said increasing demand was forcing NHS services to draft in private operators.

Ibuprofen has little benefit in treating back pain
Widely used antiinflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen have little more benefit than a placebo when it comes to treating back pain, a comprehensive review has found. Researchers analysed 35 peer-reviewed trials on the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs [NSAIDs] such as ibuprofen for back pain, reviewing data from 6,065 patients. They found that none of the analgesics offered anything more than a mild relief for backpain sufferers, and the effect was too small to be considered clinically important. The comprehensive review, published in the journal Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases, found while the drugs offered little to no benefit,
patients taking them were 2.5 times more likely to suffer from gastrointestinal problems such a stomach ulcers and bleeding. Lead author of the paper, Associate Professor Manuela Ferreira from the George Institute for Global Health in Australia, said back pain was the leading cause of disability worldwide and was commonly managed by prescribing antiinflammatories. But guidelines should be updated to reflect the drugs had little benefit, she said. “These drugs are effective for other conditions but for people with back pain, we believe there is a bigger role for other treatments,” she said. “We are not arguing that no pain relief should be used, but people using
these types should be aware the benefits are small.

More babies face health risks due to obese parents
A growing number of babies worldwide are at risk of brain damage or having a stroke, heart attack or asthma in adulthood because their mother was obese, health experts have warned. Leading doctors said dangerously overweight mothers were passing on obesity to their children as the result of “a vicious
cycle in which excess weight can seriously affect the health of parents and their offspring. Four studies published in the Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology make clear that the risks of maternal obesity include stillbirth, dangerously high blood pressure in pregnant women, diabetes in the mother or child, and
complications during childbirth. The scale of obesity in women of childbearing age and the consequent dangers to health were so great that urgent action was needed to ensure women were a normal weight before they conceived, the authors say. Mothers being very heavily overweight could
lead to their children having autism or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or developing cancer in later life, the researchers say. British women have the highest rates of obesity in Europe. One in five women in the UK who became pregnant were already obese, while in England, 26% of 35- to 44-year-old women were obese in 2013, as were 18% of those aged 24-35. Rates are even higher elsewhere. In the United States, 32% of women of peak childbearing age, between 20 and 39, were obese in 2011-12, and 60% of American women were either overweight or obese when they conceived, according to one study. The team of experts behind the studies said they feared that the problem, which is worst in developed countries, would escalate further because one in five (21%) women in the world are projected to be dangerously overweight by 2025.

Purple Hibiscus.Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Reading and reviewing this novel has been a “pleasure” but also painful. It is a cathartic experience for Kambili and the readers. The hibiscus plant grows all over the world and is important symbolically. In places such as S.Korea and Malaysia it is the national flower. The red hibiscus is the flower of the Hindu goddess, Kali. Adichie wanted to use it as the symbol of freedom, a new beginning away from the oppression of society and family life. Kambili is the protagonist, a young naive girl who loves her father even though he intimidates her and constantly punishes her. On one occasion she is hospitalised fighting for her life. Eugene, her father is a wealthy business man showing benevolence towards the poor but abuse and malevolence towards his family. He has been indoctrinated by the fervour of post-colonialism after independence was declared and the turmoil of civil war through his views on Catholicism. He is depicted as a religious zealot, an extremist and shockingly, he has severed his ties with his own father who he refers to as a heathen who continues to worship his ancestors in the way the traditionalists did. As a contrast, Eugene’s sister Aunt
Special Offers Visit:
Ifeoma is warm and caring but poor. She is a university lecturer at a time of unrest and she provides Kambili and her brother Jaja with an alternative life, one that is full of hope and more moderate. It is in her aunt’s modest flat where the 15 year old falls in love with Father Amadi; it is a beautiful experience for her and the reader after tolerating the oppressive and damaging “love” of her father. He is a wonderful person, full of life, extremely caring, a young man who spontaneously bursts into Igbo song and full of humanity. The love is reciprocated but he is unable to commit to a relationship with Kambili. Beatrice, her mother tolerates most of the abuse inflicted on the family. It is because of Eugene that she miscarries twice and like her daughter, is hospitalised. Adichie wanted to show that there were alternatives even if the fight for freedom and human rights destroys the nucleus of the family which it does for Eugene and family. Highly recommended. Available from amazon.co.uk ISBN: 987-064-692-2 Farafina Publishers, Lagos. REVIEW it by Carol Naylor.
Hello and welcome to CanDu Computer Bytes. The only professional computer help that comes from over 38 years experience and a University education. You can contact me for an appointment at my workshop or I can come to you, by calling 689 892 745 or by Email: canducomputing@hotmail. co.uk. Here is something that you may have already come across. You have downloaded and unzipped a document / sound bite / video clip into your “Documents and Settings\Documents\ Unzipped files” folder just to find that when you try to look at the download files that you can’t find it and worse is the fact that you can’t delete it! We’ve never discussed file lengths or path length before so here is a brief tutorial! Windows uses a naming convention called “Long Filenames (LFN)”. The LFN system supports file names up to 255 characters. Other operating systems, however, do not have similar restrictions. So if some Mac or Linux user were to archive a bunch of files with longer names and send you the archive, extracting that archive would leave you with files that exceed Windows’ character length. If you try to delete one of them, Windows will report that the name of the file is too long and it cannot delete it. There’s a variety of ways you can deal with this problem (like downloading the free ‘7-Zip’ file compression tool, whose built-in file manager doesn’t complain about file name length), but rather than resort to extra software or third-party
workarounds, we can use an old trick to make short work of the files. The simplest way to delete long files uses the ancient “DOS” commands, now known as the ‘8.3’ Filename system (on account of the filenames being limited to 8 characters with a 3 character extension (.doc = word DOCument, .xls = eXceL Spreadsheet, etc). Windows is not famed for being backwards compatible, but this is a perfect example of where they have kept backwards compatibility and it is extremely useful. Decades after DOS was the major operating system, we can still call up the DOS filenames for files on our modern Windows computers and, unlike the too-long-file-names that upset it, DOS won’t complain a bit when working with those short file names (even though they point at the same exact files that caused the problem in the first place). In order to delete a too-long-file, all you need to do is open a command prompt by opening your ‘File Manager’, going to the folder with the where the file is located and press and hold Shift, then right-click on an empty area. Choose “Open command window here”. A Command Prompt window will open, focused on the directory you’re in. Alternatively you can goto ‘Start - cmd. exe’, change to the place where the file is located using ‘cd\”folder, full or part pathname”’, until you find the offending file and finally using the command ‘Del “filename.ext” to remove the offending file. Now you simply go back to the file manager and delete the layers of folders to complete the task.

Property SERVICES
For all your property needs in Spain! Legal advice: It is strongly recommended that you choose an independent lawyer who is specialised in Spanish land law (urbanismo). Independent means that they work on your behalf only and are not also looking after the interests of the agent or developer. The Spanish property conveyancing system is different to the UK system so you should ensure that those involved in the transaction are qualified and experienced in Spain. Exercise extreme
caution if an estate agent, promoter or lawyer urges you to cut corners to save money or time. A Spanish notary public will be involved in preparing the contract of sale and issuing the public deeds. As the purchaser, you have the right to choose which notary you use. The notary is a public servant who has a duty to provide you with free and impartial legal advice on all aspects of the contract before you sign. It is a good idea
to seek advice from the notary early on. When a date is set for signing the contract, you have three days beforehand to visit the notary and ask any questions you may have about any aspect of the contract. If you choose to work with a British estate agent, promoter or lawyer, check that they are qualified, reliable and have experience operating in Spain. Check that they are registered with the Law Society in the UK and specialise in International Transactions.

FLOWERING PLANTS 1. Winter is the perfect time to collect seeds of hardy annuals, sweet peas and other favourites. Seed needs to be absolutely dry before being stored – damp seed will only rot. 2. Annuals, which are grown from seed and then die the same year, are the easiest plants to grow. Within 12 weeks of sowing, an annual will be flowering its socks off. The secret of success is to understand that
Top gardening tips
their sole purpose in life is to make seed, so if you dead-head them regularly, they will keep on making more flowers in a desperate attempt to produce seed. 3. The great thing about annuals is that it doesn’t matter if you sow them late – they’ll just flower later. As long as they have 12 weeks of warm conditions in which to grow and flower, they will do so. 4. Among the failsafe annuals are love-in-a-mist

Annual seeds are best sown in rows – this helps you tell the seedlings from the weedlings, which grow randomly. On Gardeners’ World, we often sow in circles, arcs and crosses, sometimes

Store envelopes containing seeds in an old ice-cream carton or biscuit tin and put it in the fridge. 7. Roses are the highlight of the summer garden, but if you have only a small plot, look for roses that flower all summer long. A rose that takes up a lot of space in return for just one month of glory can be

Thoroughly good ‘doers’ include the shrub roses ‘Buff Beauty’, ‘Gertrude Jekyll’, and ‘Graham Thomas’, the climbers ‘Ena Harkness’, ‘Blairii Number Two’ and ‘New Dawn’, and old roses Rosa ‘Mutabilis’, ‘Charles de Mills’, and ‘Blanche Double de Coubert’. 8. A luxe look for less: How to save without sacrificing style
Sometimes a simple design tweak can elevate the ordinary into an eye-catching feature of the landscape. Though a fence is often thought of as a backdrop that is meant to recede visually from furnishings and plantings, a horizontal wooden fence like this one makes everything around it look good, and doesn’t cost any more than a traditional vertical fence. Next to a “statement” fence like this, a simple concrete or gravel patio exudes simplicity and class, allowing you to get a majorly
23
stylish look without expensive materials. We chose sawn-surfaced heart B redwood for the fencing instead of ipe. This saved money on both labor and materials, since ipe is more difficult to cut and requires stainless-steel screws to avoid unsightly marks on the wood. “You don’t have to frame a horizontal fence as you do a vertical one, so going horizontal can provide some savings in materials for that reason,” he says. “That said, you do need more posts and footings.”
Contrast crushed gravel with linear concrete pads When considering a patio, concrete is often the first material which comes to mind. However, the cost of concrete adds up quickly as the square footage increases. Miller’s solution? In this project, he used linear concrete pads in high-traffic areas such as around the dining table and fire feature, and set them against the warm color and textural contrast of three-eighths-inch crushed Lodi rock. “The crushed rock is about two-thirds of this patio space, which really saves on cost as opposed to pouring all of it in concrete,” he says. “Yet it’s a clean, high-end look. Though integrating the crushed rock saves money, I’m not convinced that a concrete patio would be more attractive than the softness and warmth of the crushed rock.” The linear pads frame the focal areas and add interest to the ground plane, and the cost savings on the patio allows Miller to put the budget to work on showier elements like fire pits, water features, and other areas which will be more memorable and useful to his clients.

Five Benefits of Solar Energy
For Daily Updated News & Sport Visit www.soltimes.com
Although some form of solar power has been available for decades, the technology has only recently gained mainstream acceptance and attracted the interest of big-time utility companies. On a perkilowatt basis, solar power remains expensive relative to conventional sources of energy like coal and natural gas. Nevertheless, its overall cost continues to shrink at a rapid rate. As solar power becomes an increasingly important component of the country’s “energy mix,” it’s worth taking a look at five major benefits of solar power. 1. Changing Relationships with Public Utilities Homeowners and business owners who install solar panels on their property enjoy more equitable relationships with their local utilities. Whereas conventional arrangements between utilities and their customers require the latter to be wholly dependent on the former, solar power users gain a measure of independence from their utilities. Even if their solar panels don’t produce all of the power that they need on a daily basis, they’ll need to buy less conventional power. If they produce more power than they require, their utilities may actually pay them for it at a fluctuating wholesale rate. For cashstrapped homeowners, this can turn into a significant source of revenue. 2. Healthy Financial Incentives Along with various state agencies, the federal government offers attractive subsidies for private individuals who install solar panels or solar heating devices in their homes. In certain jurisdictions, generous subsidies may be available for businesses as well. Generally speaking, these incentives allow solar power users to claim tax credits in proportion to the amount of generation capacity that they install on their property. This reduces solar power startup costs and increases the profitability of the technology. 3. Minimal Environmental Impact Although the production of solar panels does
require some inputs of raw materials and energy, solar power’s environmental impact is minimal. The technology produces none of the carbon, methane or particulate emissions that fossil fuels emit, and it doesn’t demand largescale mining or drilling operations. Since panel arrays can be placed on rooftops or in isolated desert areas, solar power’s physical footprint is manageable as well. 4. Labor-Intensive Production Regimes The solar power industry’s “innovation engine” has resulted in the creation of tens of thousands of jobs in the last decade alone. Although proponents of conventional energy technologies argue that the solar industry destroys more fossil fuel-related jobs than it creates, this is a misleading claim. After all, solar panel production is just a small facet of an overall industry that demands contributions from installation technicians, salespeople, battery-storage designers and other key players. 5. Geopolitical Benefits Since the dawn of the fossil fuel age, the reliance on unstable or hostile countries to supply oil, gas and other energy resources has caused plenty of trouble. Indeed, the country’s political and business leaders are often forced to make unsavory compromises with shady or dangerous parties in order to guarantee steady energy imports. Putting Things in Perspective Solar power shouldn’t be mistaken for a cureall that’s capable of single-handedly solving all of the world’s social, environmental and political ills. However, it’s a valuable technology that’s increasingly competitive with traditional sources of energy. Moreover, its benefits are undeniable. In the future, solar power is all but assured to have a lasting and overwhelmingly positive impact on our society.

The Flu Epidemic
Doctor Enzo Matanzamas reported the first case of Alquerian Flu to the Ministerio de Sanidad y Política Social at the beginning of the week. Influenzavirus B (Alquerian mutation) as it is officially known is a notifiable disease. It has all of the usual flu symptoms plus depression, fits of uncontrollable weeping and a large blue boil on the nose. Depression and fits of uncontrollable weeping are common in the healthy population of Alqueria so these symptoms can be misdiagnosed. Manuela was the first confirmed case. She didn’t like visiting Dr. Matanzamas. He didn’t always take her temperature the way she expected. Her usual method of fighting colds was to take to her bed and place a large Sevillano Hat at the foot. She would then drink whisky mixed with lemon juice from a Cruzcampo Beer glass held in her gloved hand. She would continue drinking until the hat began moving on its own accord. She would then be cured or at least feel a great deal better. This was Alquerian Flu and not a common cold however. Manuela was a fighter and was determined to carry on as usual, which she did. By the end of the week every man under forty had the virus. The olive mill came to a standstill. With no labour available the presses stopped and no Alquerian olives entered the national market. Shares in olive related companies rocketed. A spokesman for ENAC the accreditation body said it was the best
viewpoint
news for the industry in fifty years. Only one person in the village was immune. Antonio Poyato. His exposure to the precious Remitroot he cultivated was the likely key. Antonio experimented on Nestor Clacketo and sure enough he was cured. Poyato was in high glee, a cure for influenza. He would be a rich man. How to administer it? He couldn’t give the whole village Remitroot wine, they were awkward enough sober. He dried the leaves and crushed them with olives to form a paste. Distributing this balsam free to the villagers he was sure he would make a fortune selling the recipe to the world’s pharmaceutical companies. There was however a hitch. Remitroot balsam cures only the Alquerian mutation and the Alquerian mutation kills all other forms of influenza. So to be cured one has to come to Alqueria and catch the local strain which kills the normal type. Then one has to take the balsam curing the Alquerian mutation. The Alquerian mutation is debilitating so a period of convalescence is required. If no rest is taken the immune system is so weak, reinfection takes place. The choice was clear, spend three week in Alqueria or suffer with the flu. Most people preferred the latter. Poyato was heart broken, but Alqueria was back to its usual dysfunctional self and free to continue making a nuisance of itself once more.
Enchanting Spain - out now
From Santiago de Compostela in the north-west to Granada in the southeast via Madrid in the centre, Enchanting Spain reveals the fascinating breadth and depth of this exuberant country. The Moorish Alhambra, Toledo’s Jewish quarter, the Roman amphitheatre at Mérida and Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia, the famously unfinished cathedral, each show a different aspect of Spain’s complex history, now intermingled with fabulously contemporary museums and art centres. The major towns sparkle with life, which visitors can share through the vibrant night scene, the delicious food and wine, the flamenco performances and the abundant festivals. The landscape is diverse and dramatic, whether you are discovering the sundrenched beaches of Andalucía, hiking in the Picos de Europa or taking a trip down the Guadalquivir River. Enchanting Spain is a portrait in words and images of both the familiar and the unexpected pleasures of this vibrant country. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------John MacDonald has written for many Spanish and international publications and has a special interest in Spanish history. Magical Talents
Anyone who has ever owned a cat knows that the cat owns them. The Egyptians worshipped cats, and, apart from witches, with whom they are familiar, cats consider themselves to be on a higher plane to us mere humans. Not Our Cat, aka Her Royal Highness Sayidda al Hurra, aka Si, likes to emphasise this point. She is sleek, black and silent, and glides about the house and garden with more grace and fluidity than a top ballerina. She has moulded our behaviour to her liking by force of personality and citrus green eyes – she had no need for an Act of Parliament, Supreme Court judgement or a Referendum. Also she possesses magical skills – she can Apparate, that is, disappear in one place and simultaneously re-appear in another. She can be behind me in one room, yet as I open the door to go to another she is there, in front of me! Yet I swear she didn’t pass me in the doorway! Her son, Mr Tommy Fluffipants, who has no conscience, relies on his extreme fluffiness and an air of astonished surprise and complete blamelessness to get him out of trouble. He has no magical skillsas yet, but he is working on them. His practice area is the kitchen table and chairs - He is not allowed on the kitchen table and he knows this, but is hoping for an Act of Parliament, a Supreme Court judgement, or a referendum of one

to overturn this ruling. Until this happenshe is practicing Invisibility. I enter the kitchen; he slithers rapidly off the table onto the kitchen chair, and hides under the overhanging tablecloth, using the principal that if he can’t see me, then I can’t see him. I lift the cloth, and his little face looks up at me. ‘You can’t see me, I’m Invisible.’ ‘I can see you, Tommy.’ ‘You can see me now, because you have lifted up my Invisibility Cloth.’ ‘OK, so you’re Invisible. Butwhat were you doing on the kitchen table?I saw you, and you weren’t Invisible then.’ His unblinking eyes meet mine with a mixture of innocence and incredulity. ‘I was practicing.’ ‘Practicing what?’ ‘If I’m going to practice Invisibility, then I have to practice Uninvisibility too. Otherwise how will I know when I’m Invisible?’ I had to admit, he had a point!

If you wish us to print an article about a particular topic, please e-mail info@daviessolicitors.com - www.daviessolicitors.com Not getting married can lead to a very large inheritance tax bill. Question: My partner of 7 years (not married) has recently deceased and he had left me his house in his will. The house he has left me is the house where we lived and it has a value of 240,000 euro. I am being told that I will have to pay over 80,000 euro in inheritance tax. Surely this cannot be correct. Answer: This is unfortunately true. In Spain the inheritance tax is paid by the beneficiaries (not by the estate) and how much you pay depends on your relationship with the deceased. Descendants and spouse in Andalucía are each entitled to receive up to 250,000 euro tax free (since 1st of January of 2017). (Residents of Andalucia or of an estate in Andalucia being received by a resident in another country of the European Union.) On the other hand if you are not married and are not family there are no exemptions whatsoever and to make things worse, after applying the sliding scale of inheritance tax rates, the final amount needs to be multiplied by two. In your case estate planning was as simple as getting married and you would have paid no inheritance tax whatsoever. As things are, I am afraid there is no way of avoiding the payment for over 80,000 euro that you mention. Michael Davies. Abogado. Amazing slow-cooked chicken
Lettuce rationing widens to broccoli and cabbage
Lettuce rationing has proved to be just the tip of the iceberg: the UK’s third largest supermarket has introduced a ban on bulk purchases of aubergines, broccoli, loose courgettes and cabbage. Asda said it was limiting bulk purchases to six items on iceberg lettuce and each of the other vegetables as an almost unprecedented cold and wet weather in southern Spain has hit supplies. Asda’s rationing comes after Tesco introduced a three-lettuce limit on icebergs, while rival Morrisons has imposed a twolettuce limit and banned shoppers from buying more than three heads of broccoli. The shortages are also hitting restaurant chains. Sandwich chain Pret a Manger said it had been using alternative varieties of leaf in its salads, such as Lollo Rosso and Frisse. Industry suppliers said fresh herbs such as coriander, parsley, mint and thyme were also affected by shortages. Meanwhile, one extremely hopeful seller put a box of lettuces up for sale on Gumtree for £50 in a bid to cash in.

GREAT FUN NIGHT OUT
Slow cooked chicken Serves four generously. 8 large chicken thighs, skin on and bone in (about 1.1kg in total) 1 tsp olive oil 1 tsp hot paprika 1½ tsp ground allspice ½ tsp ground turmeric Salt 15 garlic cloves, peeled 2 beef tomatoes, roughly chopped 3 tbsp lemon juice 350g bucatini 10g flat-leaf parsley leaves, roughly chopped Put the chicken in a large bowl with the oil, paprika, allspice, turmeric and a teaspoon of salt. Toss to coat, then leave to marinate for 10 minutes. Put a large, heavy-based casserole for which you have a lid on a mediumhigh heat. Lay in the chicken skin side down and fry for 10 minutes (there is no need to add any oil to the pan), turning regularly, until golden brown all over. Turn the heat to low and add the whole garlic cloves, tomatoes, lemon juice and two tablespoons of water. Pop on the lid and leave to cook slowly for 45 minutes, until the chicken is just cooked through. Fifteen minutes before
the chicken is cooked, fill a large pot with water, salt generously and bring to a boil. Cook the pasta until al dente, then drain and return to its pot. Once the chicken is done, transfer both it and the garlic cloves to a plate. Pour the remaining contents of the casserole over the pasta and toss to combine. Return the chicken to the casserole skin side down and lay the soft garlic in between. Pour all the pasta and cooking juices on top, cover the pot and leave to cook on a low heat for another 45 minutes. Transfer the pasta to a shallow serving bowl, then stir in the parsley. Arrange the chicken on top skin side up (some of the skin may have stuck to the base of the pan, but don’t worry), then pour over the garlic and cooking juices, and serve. Very slow-braised chicken with celeriac and lemon Serves two, generously. 4 large chicken thighs, bone in and skin on, 1 tsp fennel seeds, lightly crushed, ¼ tsp chilli flakes, 1½ tsp ground cumin, 2 tbsp olive oil, plus 1 tbsp extra to serve Salt and pepper, 750g
celeriac, peeled and cut into 8 2cm-thick wedges, 3 large banana shallots, peeled and cut into 0.5cm-thick slices, 2 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed, 3 bay leaves, 5 sprigs fresh thyme, 4 lemons: 2 cut in half widthways, 2 juiced, but only after finely shaving off the peel from 1 of them , 5g flat-leaf parsley leaves, finely chopped, 5g tarragon leaves, finely chopped. Put the chicken in a bowl with the fennel seeds, chilli, cumin, a tablespoon of oil and a quarter- teaspoon of salt, and toss to coat. Put a large, heavybased cast-iron pan for which you have a lid on a medium heat. Once the pan is good and hot, lay in the chicken skinside down and fry for seven to eight minutes, until the skin is crisp and golden brown. Turn over the chicken, fry for three minutes more, then transfer to a large plate. Keep the pan on the heat and fry the celeriac in the residual hot fat for 10 minutes, turning once halfway through Transfer the celeriac to the chicken plate with the cooked shallots drizzle with olive oil, parsley and tarragon.
When serving, you use the sauce to dress pasta and then eat the meat, or simply serve it with bread to mop up the sauce. I was taught me the best meat is close to the bone, and with oxtail bones, that their convenient knobbles demand to be picked up and sucked. I love oxtail in all its incarnations, but cooked as they do it in Testaccio, oxtails manages to be both a mother and a diva of a dish. Serves 4-6. 1.2 kg oxtail, cut into sections, 1 medium onion, peeled and sliced, 4 tbsp olive oil, for frying, 250ml red wine, 800g tinned plum tomatoes, chopped, Salt and black pepper, 200g

celery, cut into 5cm batons, 30g sultanas, 30g pine nuts. Dark chocolate or cocoa powder, to taste. Wash the oxtail in cold water, drain and pat the pieces dry. In a large, heavy-based or enamel pot, that can later contain all the ingredients, fry the onion in the olive oil over a medium heat. Add half the oxtail and brown on all sides, making sure the onion doesn’t catch. Once the oxtail is brown, transfer on to a plate. Brown the remaining meat. Return all the oxtail to the pan, raise the heat and add the wine. Let it sizzle and partially evaporate. Add the tomato, 100ml of water,
salt and pepper. Turn the meat, making sure it is covered with sauce. Bring the pot to a steady simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Half cover the pot and cook for 3 hours. Every now and then, turn the meat and add a little more water if the sauce is looking too thick. Add the celery, sultanas and pine nuts to the pan and stir. Cook for 2 more hours. The meat will be incredibly tender and falling from the bone. If you don’t have time to let the stew rest overnight, spoon away some of the fat that is resting on the surface. If you wish, add grated chocolate or cocoa to taste.

Sprinkle the enchiladas with the grated cheese and bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and turned goldenbrown. Just before serving, garnish the enchiladas with fresh coriander. To serve, divide the enchiladas equally among the serving plates. Serve with a mixed green salad. Serves 2.

Bake until golden and bubbly, about 20 minutes.
The best food and drink for when you’ve over-eaten
If you’re suffering from the excesses of eating too much rich food, which can involve heartburn and reflux, then try switching to lower fat products such as skimmed milk. High fat foods take longer to digest and empty in the stomach and can make reflux and heartburn worse. Therefore, a lower fat diet in the interim may help to improve these issues. Bloating after meals is not uncommon. Fennel, caraway and mint help to relieve bloating by relaxing the gut wall, loosening the valve between the gut and oesophagus. Try making your own ‘tummy tea’ to drink after meals by adding fresh mint along with a
teaspoon each of fennel and caraway seeds to hot water and sipping slowly. It’s worth noting that this is for bloating, and not heartburn or reflux - this will be made worse by encouraging the gut wall to relax. PINEAPPLE AND PAPAYA These tropical fruits contain the digestive enzymes called papain (papaya) and bromelain. These enzymes help to digest proteins and have traditionally thought of as a way of improving digestion and helping with digestive issues. Although the evidence for their effectiveness is not that strong, these fruits contribute to your daily intake of fibre and other key nutrients, and also make a healthy starter or dessert.

APAH are appealing for a long-term foster home for a very needy cat. Heidi has been in APAH’s care since 2010. She is a mature, very affectionate cat with a life-long medical condition. It isn’t contagious and is kept under control by medication; which she is well used to and takes without a problem. Her medical needs will be maintained by APAH, but she needs a loving home for her later years.

Sally is just 8 months old and had been discarded by the people she thought would protect her. She was being bullied on the streets by feral cats and when we approached her with a cat box she immediately walked straight into it. She loves to curl up on a lap and will make a wonderful companion. Sally is vaccinated and sterilised. Call: 645 469 253 www.petsinspain.com info@petsinspain.info
This big guy is a real gentle giant. He is loveable and likes a good belly rub. He is good with people and in excellent condition. He was found wandering the streets trying to interact with people. He appears to have been well looked after, but has obviously been lost and with no microchip found, we do not know his owners. He is well house trained, is very good on a lead and when left to roam freely within boundaries. He would make an excellent family dog.

What is the best time to go?
What is the best time to go to Hawaii? There are many things to consider - the weather; which island(s) you plan to visit; the cost of airfare; whether you’ll stay at a hotel, resort, bed & breakfast or rent a condominium; should you plan around a major festival; and finally what do you want to do once you arrive in the islands? So, how do you decide on the best time to visit Hawaii? We’ll look at each of the considerations I’ve mentioned and, hopefully, you’ll have a better idea. Each of the things that I’ll discuss in this feature are important to help you make your final decision. Consider all of them and then weigh them against each other. Before we begin, here are some thoughts to keep in mind as you read further: The weather in Hawaii is consistently good most of the year, but the prices are much higher during the “high” travel season. Decide what you want to see and do while you’re in Hawaii and then find the best time of year to meet your requirements. If you’re a return visitor, plan your trip in a different season. The islands have a different look at various times of the year. With those in mind, let’s begin. Don’t forget to go to an authentic luau where you can get a taste of Hawaiian culture and watch the art of the hula. You’ll find the itineraries on Hawaii are endless. From romantic escapades to family fun; from whale watching to walking on a volcano; you can do it all or you can simply sit back and do nothing.

Visit Hawaii
Something Special
Take a Trip to Hawaii
One look out of your window and you can already see how special Hawaii is. Beyond the deep blue ocean, the emerald valleys and golden sands, the Islands of Aloha feature some fundamental experiences that truly set it apart from the rest of the world. From the spiritual beauty of the hula to the visceral power of an active volcano, learn about these essential activities, attractions and cultural experiences that are must-dos on your next holiday to Hawaii.
Discover why the six Islands of Aloha are home to treasures unlike any other on earth: The dramatic cliffs of the Napali Coast on Kauai. The vibrant shores of Waikiki Beach on Oahu. The kilometres of white sands of Papohaku Beach on Molokai. The dolphin friendly waters of Hulopoe Bay on Lanai. The summit of Haleakala on Maui. The primal energy of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on Hawaii Island. It won’t be easy choosing which island to visit on your first trip to Hawaii, but you’ll find there are no wrong answers. Visit the historic landmarks of Hawaii and learn about the rich culture of the islands. Explore off-the-beaten-track destinations, from hidden beaches to small towns that you won’t find on a postcard. Learn to surf, snorkel or kayak and earn your Hawaii suntan. Hawaii is like no other place on earth. Home to one of the world’s most active volcanoes and the world’s tallest sea mountain. Birthplace of modern surfing, the hula and Hawaii Regional Cuisine. Former seat of a royal kingdom and home to the only royal palace on US soil. Hawaii is one of the youngest geological formations in the world and the youngest state of the union. But perhaps Hawaii’s most unique feature is its aloha spirit: the warmth of Hawaii’s people that wonderfully complements the Islands’ perfect temperatures. There are six major islands to visit in Hawaii: Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Maui, and Hawaii Island. You’ll find each island has its own distinct personality and offers its own adventures, activities and sights. Mark Twain called Hawaii, “That peaceful land, that beautiful land... the climate, one long delicious summer day, and the good that die experience no change, for they but fall asleep in one heaven and wake up in another.” We invite you to explore the Islands of Aloha to find your own heavenly Hawaii experiences.

The Canary Islands consist of seven islands of volcanic origin in the Atlantic Ocean. They are located off the northwestern coast of Africa and form an autonomous community of Spain. The islands are estimated to be 30 million years old, relatively young by geological standards. At the time of their discovery by Europeans, the Canary Islands were inhabited by a variety of indigenous communities. The origins of these Canarian indigenous people have been and indeed still are the subject of long debates. Numerous theories have been put forward throughout the last century, achieving varying degrees of acceptance. The Canary Islands are now one of the biggest tourist destinations to people from the UK, Ireland and Germany with more than 10 million people visiting the Islands in total. The Canary Islands are made up of Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Palma, Gomera and Herrio. The Map below is of the Canary Islands – As you can see they are all located close to each other and are all different shapes and sizes.

Motoring Roundup SolTimes

A distillation 2017 Acura of Honda’s inner feelings at this moment With the regular NSX having already been revealed in production guise, the looks of the Type R variant are not exactly a guessing game, albeit it turns into speculation as soon as you start mentioning specific details. I have an odd feeling that Honda Honda /Acura Acura may resurrect their Championship White color for its reveal sometime in late 2016 or early 2017, and that shade should help bring out all the body modifications. Even though the first generation is a bit too old to give some meaningful clues, we can look to it for inspiration. Expect
to see a slightly restyled front end with some added splitters and a rear wing are expected to adorn the 2017 Type R. Redesigned, lighter wheels and a slightly wider track may also happen, with the twinturbocharged V-6 maybe even getting some extra air intakes for improved cooling. The car could also be offered with contrasting colors on the splitter, side skirts, mirror caps, and rear diffuser. Our rendering features the trademark Championship White with bright red accents, but other color combinations will also become available.
NSX
The “regular” 2016 NSX puts out a total of 573 horsepower and 623 pound-feet of torque. The midmounted V-6 mill delivers 500 ponies and 406 poundfeet, while the electric motor between the engine and transmission cranks out an additional 47 horsepower and 109 pound-feet of torque. Two motors on the front axle each generate 36 horsepower and 54 pound-feet. With the additional power that would come with the additional of a Type R badge, the Type R should be one hell of a ride. The 1991 to 2005 NSX spawned a Type R version about two years into the product-cycle, first as a Japan-only Honda and then as an Acura in the United States as well. With over 250 pounds of weight removed compared to the standard NSX, the Type R offered blistering track performance but a much more low-tech cabin due to its lack of air conditioning and less sound-deadening materials.
February 2017
The new NSX Type R will probably not be as barebones as the first generation though, with most of the performance additives coming from the improved hybrid technology.
The Interior
Knowing how the original Type R’s aggressive weight-reduction program was mainly addressed via a no-frills cockpit, it is expected that the 2017 NSX-R will follow a similar route. This time the climate control may actually be kept though, with other non-essential features being instead deleted from the regular model. With that being said, the track-ready NSX version
will likely sport a pair of slimmer bucket seats made from carbon fiber and little to no carpeting at all. Future NSX-R owners may also have to live without sat nav, an audio system and a reasonable amount of sound deadening. Since all those missing features will likely translate into an enormous loss of weight, they shouldn’t argue too much.

After some dark years of uncertainty, the company is ruminating on past glories, on Marlboro McLarens with Ayrton and Alain, racing bikes with oval pistons, and absurdly exquisite lawn equipment. Honda wants to be spoken of with awe again, to show the world that it’s back as a technology and performance powerhouse ready to both amaze the world and till its flowerbeds. An aborted prototype with the transverse V-6 out of an Odyssey

minivan died in mid-2012 because it couldn’t deliver amazement, and a crash program to reinvent the NSX ensued. The layout of the three electric motors onboard—two on the front axle and a third between the twin-turbo V-6 and the nine-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox— echoes that of the late, great $850,000 Porsche 918 Spyder, promising many of the benefits for a fraction of the price.

Manchester United’s pursuit of Antoine Griezmann is “not cut and dried” and could hinge on qualification for the Champions League, according to Terry Gibson. United are interested in signing the Atletico Madrid forward should he become available in the summer, with the club reportedly willing to meet his £85m release clause. While acknowledging Atleti would be helpless if United triggered such a clause, Gibson believes any negotiations would be less straightforward.
Get It On
A British battle between Kell Brook and Amir Khan is still yet to happen and Junior Witter knows the frustration of being unable to face a long-term rival. There is a flicker of hesitation in the 42-yearold when asked for the biggest regret in his boxing career, but Witter cannot deny his lingering torment at failing to share the ring with Ricky Hatton. “Yes, it is obviously, it’s one fight that I really wanted to happen,” Witter said. “It would have proved a lot of things to a lot of people.” Long before a fight between Brook and Khan was ever mentioned, two other British fighters were locked in a bitter rivalry, which led to repeated calls for the feuding duo to finally settle their differences.

Madrid Target Lloris
Hugo Lloris is on a shortlist of goalkeepers Real Madrid will make approaches over this summer with the Spaniards believing the Tottenham Hotspur captain may be easier to prise away than Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois. France international Lloris only signed a new contract that runs to 2022 in December and
move when you go up against Lewis”. Bottas joins Hamilton at Mercedes in 2017 after F1’s world champions were forced into an unexpected reshuffle when Nico Rosberg retired within days of winning last year’s world title. Anthony Hamilton believes Bottas, whose deal is thought to only be guaranteed for one year, will face a triple world champion team-mate at the peak of all his powers.
Spurs are confident that the 30-year-old has no intention of leaving the club. But that will not stop Real enquiring about Lloris if Chelsea stand firm over their desire to keep Courtois and manage to convince the Belgian to sign a new deal.
Sergio Garcia hopeful of big 2017 after Win
Sergio Garcia has set his sights on a big 2017 after making a winning start to his European Tour campaign at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic. Garcia posted a finalround 69 at Emirates Golf Club to finish three shots clear of Henrik Stenson and complete a wire-to-wire victory his first European Tour
success since the 2014 Qatar Masters. The Spaniard moves up to third in the Race to Dubai standings with the win, which is also set to take him back inside the world’s top 10. “I was trying to stay positive and make sure I stayed as aggressive as possible. I stayed very calm and I was able to
get it done. It’s great to be in there (inside the top 10). So hopefully this is just the beginning of a great year.” Stenson was within two of the lead with four holes to play but saw his hopes fade with a bogey at the 15th, as Garcia birdied from close range to seal victory.

Suarez will miss Copa del Rey final

Cobra’s Keep Moving Forwards Another new week for the Cobras and two more new players. After a difficult start for the club not having a permanent training pitch things seem to be coming together nice and slowly. At the very end of last year we had no permanent training pitch, but then we gain a couple of new players and with their contacts in the area we were able to start moving forward. And with fantastic support from San Fulgencio sports councillor Vicente who pulled out all the stops to get us the use of the football pitch there, since then we have gone from strength to strength with new players coming in nearly every week. We are quite away of getting a full team together, but half way towards a seniors 7’s team ready for the beach rugby as well as an under 16’s team. This has all been all down to the new members and new players that have put loads of effort into the club promoting it with a great mix of Spanish and English, young and old, just as rugby should be. We are now training at the football ground in San Fulgencio on Monday and Wednesday from 20.3022.00 and then meeting up at Power Pub in the town after training and using this is our club house. All the players are training at the same time, but once we get more juniors and seniors we will be doing two separate sessions. Everybody welcome, from beginners to experienced players, the more the merrier, as we are based on the true traditional ethics of the sport. So come along and join the rugby revolution with the newest rugby club on the Costa Blanca, and off course team bonding after training in the nearest bar for a drink and chat, just how rugby should be. For more information about the club contact myself, Dutch, on 692 767 242 whatsapp. Also I am down at Zoco market on Sunday from 09.00-13.30, so come on down and find more out about the club and rugby in the area. Also for all of your rugby branded clothing and gear including Canterbury casuals, Cotton Traders, club and international shirts. Also a big thank you to our shirt sponsors the Power Pub in San Fulgencio, Legal and Tax in Spain and Autocenter Rojales, orders been taken now.
Ranieri Backed
Leicester City have announced their “unwavering support” for manager Claudio Ranieri despite the reigning Premier League champions being just one point above the relegation zone. Recent reports had suggested the Italian was under pressure after a run of just two wins in their last 15 Premier Leagues games. However, the Foxes said in a statement that “the entire club is and will remain united behind its manager”.
now miss the final after Barcelona edged through 3-2 on aggregate. The Uruguayan tapped in from close range in the 43rd minute after an inspired run and shot from Lionel Messi to deliver a sucker punch to Atletico, who had dominated the first half at the Nou
Camp but failed to take their chances. Kevin Gameiro blazed a penalty over the bar with 10 minutes remaining but the French striker still made for a tense finale by tapping in an Antoine Griezmann cross moments later. Barca defender Sergi Roberto will
also be suspended for the final after being sent off for a second booking in the second half and Atletico winger Yannick Carrasco was dismissed as well for a second yellow card. Suarez was sent off in the 90th minute for an elbow on defender Luis Hernandez.
Medals for local swimmers in XXIII Spanish National Open Winter Masters Championships
Traditionally February is the month which hosts the Spanish Masters Open Winter Swimming Championships in a 25m pool. This year Palma Majorca was the venue and saw a record number of participants. Between Thursday 2nd February to Sunday 5th February 1,424 masters swimmers descended upon the Olympic Municipal pool, Son Hugo in Palma, Majorca for the XXII Spanish Masters Winter Championships . One hundred and sixty six swimming clubs
presented swimmers of all ages from 21 to 91yrs in forty different races. Local swimming club, Club Natacion Elche had four swimmers participate in the competition and together they won 7 medals - 5 golds, one silver and one bronze medal. Starting on the first day of races, Beth Altabas won gold in the 400m freestyle (70+ category) to be followed the next day with a gold for Beth in the 800m and 50m freestyle events. Vicki Connolly then went on to win a bronze medal in
the 800m freestyle (50+ category). The girls were then joined on Saturday by two of their male colleagues Julio Perez and Javier Sanchez. On Saturday Julio came 10th in his 50m butterfly in the 35-39yrs category and Beth won another gold in her 200m freestyle. Vicki just missed out on another bronze medal and was placed 4th in her 200m freestyle event. On the final day of racing Javier Sanchez won silver in the 50m breaststroke event in the 30-34yrs category and once again Beth
completed her medal haul with a final gold in the 100m freestyle event. Vicki was not far behind in her 100m freestyle with a 6th place and a seasonal personal best of 1:17:75. By the end of the competition with only 4 swimmers representing CN Elche the club managed to achieve 45th place out of 118 in the female competitors section and the club overall was ranked 68th of 166 clubs. A massive achievement with only 4 swimmers. Well done to all.
