What breakdowns were happening in America between 1783-1787 that made the drafters of the U.S. Constitution feel the need to create such a document?
Introduction
When forming the union, there were concerns that bringing in delegates for 13 individual colonies would prove exceptionally volatile.
Each colony had different interests ranging from representation, western land, and finances and this made bringing all of them into one union very difficult.
When these delegates came together it caused, not only, a sense of common purpose in resisting Britain, but also a sense of awareness of the drastic differences of the individual colonies which proved very difficult to make decisions (Greene, J. 1982).
