Thesis Statement:
The Underground Railroad aided enslaved people to escape to freedom, causing hope to find its way into the hearts of those who were still enslaved, created an awareness of the treatment of slaves for lawmakers, and challenged the political framework of the time with each escape.
Event Description:
In the 17th and 18th centuries, leading up to the Underground Railroad, African people were enslaved to help those in the southern coast reach a better economic status.
African American slaves were treated less than human and were considered property of their masters andcould, therefore, be treated in anyway a master would wish.
