WALDORF WOMAN RECEIVES BURNS AT BURN BARREL CHARLES COUNTY, MD (March 3, 2011) – A 27 year old woman received 3rd degree burn injuries while burning household trash in a burn barrel located to the rear of her home on the 9800 block of Proctor Place in Waldorf. Joi Thompson had family members transport her at approximately 5:30 p.m. last night to Civista Medical Center in La Plata, Charles County, after experiencing burns to her face, neck, arms, hands and some respiratory issues. She was transported to Washington Hospital Center Burn Unit in stable condition with serious burn injuries. Investigators determined the cause of the burns was related to an aerosol type can bursting inside the burn barrel when Thompson was adding more items to the container. She is currently in stable condition.
