The Social Network Sub district Centre Hari Nagar, Delhi, India Undergraduate Thesis: Tenth Semester
Situated amidst a vast stretch of disused green area, where an urban greenway is proposed by the Delhi Urban Arts Commission as an attempt at reactivation, The Social Network is an urban design project that attempts to connect the city’s urban development to its green by creating an alternate pedestrianised corridor, providing an alternate way to navigate the city and blurring the edge of built and green.

The Social Network
Urban planning strategies have been implemented by linking surrounding residential and commercial development at different scales, making the site a thoroughfare. Existing nodes have been linked through shortest movement lines, with the built developed around these movement patterns. The program composing of offices, retail, cultural centre and community centre is planned in smooth synchronisation, coming together to form a pleasant social hub. The proposed Greenway has been continued within the site, with a series of public spaces at the interface of built and green, activating the space.

Thinking Small/Thinking Big Space Saving Furniture in Architecture Dissertation : Seventh Semester
Aim This dissertation aims to study the impact of space saving furniture on housing design in India.
• • • • • • •
Objectives To identify the need for a new space saving housing typology in India To identify the need for space saving furniture in Indian markets in residential architecture. To determine applications of space saving furniture in residences within the scope of study. To identify and analyse how space saving furniture changes layouts in residential architecture in terms of spaces and the functions associated to them To identify the parameters of comfortable minimum space required for a person to perform each function in habitable spaces in a residence To study the impact of space saving furniture on housing unit design. To measure the success of space saving furniture in a housing unit design for the user.
11
Passive Peace
With increasing urbanisation, land scarcity in urban areas and hike in land prices causing a hike in housing prices, there is an urban housing crisis in India. Combined with the coming up of a new demographic of millennials who have a demand for small and compact housing, affordable homes and technology driven lifestyle, there is a demand for a new housing typology in India. Space saving furniture is explored as one possibility to solve these issues. Space saving furniture impacts housing unit design by decreasing the unit size due to efficient space planning and layouts and combining mutually exclusive functions to reduce space. It also increases the importance of certain design features to make the unit visually more spacious. Space saving furniture completely changes the way zoning and circulation patterns are looked at in a residence. It also creates an urgent emphasis on targeted design that is tailored to the person who will be residing there as user participation plays a great role in the success of the unit. Most importantly, it can be a solution towards affordable housing. In such micro housing buildings, recreation facilities are of greater importance. To further make the furniture more affordable in India, it is necessary to take the step towards manufacturing it in greater volumes. Once it is done, the way forward to a new category of housing design can be based on space saving furniture in the Indian context.

garbagriha¡ Inner Sanctum Interpretation centre Badami, Karnataka, India Fourth Semester
Nestled in the majestic landscape of Badami, capital of the Chalukyan dynasty, that was the experimental grounds of a grand Indian dynasty in the 6th-8th centuries to build thousands of prototypes of temples paving the way for large Indian temples to be built later, the Interpretation Centre ,housing a museum, guest house, library, cafe and a local outreach centre, aims to tell an age-old story, mysticised by folklore and romanticised by the red cliffs in a new way. The intent was to capture and freeze the soul of the place rich in history and culture and design to create outdoor spaces and interesting connections using contours of the site as guides to attract tourist traffic and create a public space for the settlement next to the site.

The Ascent Mixed Use Transit Oriented building Nehru Place, Delhi, India Sixth Semester
In a fast paced, rapidly changing city, the intent was to design a building that would symbolise the ascent of Delhi from being a lowrise settlement into the future. Keeping in mind that the site would be visible from a vast distance, an iconic structure was designed that could act as a landmark, be high up and bold and yet not be a liability to the environment. 17

The intent is to create an institution incorporating greenery and interesting interactive spaces to remove a sense of intimidation of the institute for students, in order to make it an intimate studying environment. The site planning and design is driven by passive techniques of cooling, lighting and ventilation for building efficiency. As a strategy, courtyards and light-wells generate a series of clusters with a hierarchy of open spaces, giving rise to intra-departmental and inter-departmental interactions at different levels.

The restaurant is designed as a bridge on a lake in the small hill village of Garli, with locally sourced materials of wood, slate and brick. Being the first restaurant in the village, the sitting is designed unconventionally, with the structure adding more to the village than just a place to eat, with areas of floor sitting, bay for vendors and different levels of interaction with the water.

The Ultimate Narcissist Imaginative Spaces First Semester
Look closely, as close as you can; Because the closer you look, The lesser you’ll see. The exercise to create two spaces, similar in essence, but different in scale. The first model is a maze that appears a simple from afar, but is complicated inside, much like the human mind. Changing the scale in the second model to create a narcissist space, high and closed to the outside world, with a complex flowing inside world.
