Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up. - Pablo Picasso

Who am I?

My name is Sona and I am a wedding photographer. I have been taking photographs on a professional level for the last 6 years. I started taking photographs while I lived in beautiful Ireland for 5 years. In April last year I moved back home to Slovakia to be closer to my family and friends. During the last 6 years, I’ve also attended a whole lot of different workshops (run by super talented and wonderful people like Jesh DeRox, Feather & Stone, Pear & Godiva, Jen Huang, Emma Case, Damien Lovegrove etc…) where I’ve not only learned lot of interesting and useful things, but I’ve also met a lot of like minded awesome creatives. So I thought that the time has come for me to give something back to the community and thus I started organizing my own workshops. The very first one happened last year and I had a blast, so I decided to do another one:) Here are some testimonials from previous attendees: “Sona is a great mentor, who took us on a journey learning about how she connects with her customers, develops her network of vendors, grows her business and above all captures unforgettable imagery of her couples. Anyone interested to learn more about film photography should keep an eye on her next workshop!” Tony Gigov “Thank you Sona for a really amazing experience. I had such a wonderful time at your film workshop. You helped me get to know my film camera so much better and armed with with the basic tools to go out and shoot medium format at weddings. You showed me Slovakia which is a stunning country and I made some amazing friends. I would recommend any budding film photographer to come along. It was so worth it. Thanks again, Faye” Faye Cornhill “Sona’s workshop was a great choice 4 summer! Not only I got lot of useful information about the whole business of wedding photography from an experienced photographer (thanx, Sona!), but also amazing pics for my own portfolio. I can highly recommend this workshop to everybody!” Ivana Butalova

What is this workshop about?

I’m hoping that those who will attend will not only learn something from me, but also make new friends along the way and leave with lot of amazing photos to add to their portfolio. This workhop will be focus mainly on weddings but this will be mostly seen on the nature of our styled shoots, where we will have a couple styled as Bride & Groom and also some settings like wedding table, bouquet, invitations, cake etc etc. Most of the theory of the workshop can be used in any portrait photography business, but there will definitely be focus on couples/wedding photography, simply because that’s where I’m most experienced and that’s what I absolutely love doing. Parts of the workshop will have a theory where I will talk about my experience and share my knowledge, and other parts will be more like a free discussion between the attendees of what are your experiences etc etc and also there’ll be time for Q&A. Although part of the workshop will include talk about some basic rules of composition, posing, lightning etc, we are not going to spend too much time on technical parts of the things, so you will need to know how to use your camera (at least in Aperture Priotiry Mode, but best is if you’re shooting in Manual Mode). And of course big part of this workshop will be hands on shooting experience of two beautifully styled shoots, where you will see how I work, but you’ll also be given the oportunity to take some photographs for your porftolio. Both digital and film shooters are welcome, but please be aware that there will be some theory about shooting film included in the workshop.
