FATHER AND SON PERFECTING THE ART
N
ow in his 38th year of growing grapes in Texas, Dan Gatlin has steadily perfected the complex process of producing Texas' finest wines from 100% Texas fruit. His son, Spencer Gatlin, has added his 7 years of experience to their team, and promises to extend their legacy to the next generation. Inwood Estates, named as one of the “101 Best Wineries in America” for the third year in a row by the Daily Meal, NY, out of 9000 American wineries, is now available for visitation in Fredericksburg at their newest location 11 miles east on Highway 290. After their legendary planting of Tempranillo in the Texas High Plains 17 years ago, Inwood has become synonymous with America's highest quality Tempranillo wines, both varietals and blends. Today, however, they are extending their most exciting work into Cabernet, Bordeaux Blends, Bordeaux varietals and Chardonnay. Much of this very promising fruit production is taking place locally in Gillespie County, just outside of Fredericksburg.
The local facility offers a variety of winery experiences ranging from casual to highly advanced level classes/tastings for the most demanding oenophile and professional. Some available Tasting Options are listed below: The “Super-Flight”: Inwood’s Top Wines ($200+) versus Spain's Top Wines ($200+) Wines produced at the Ultra-Low 0.29 tons per acre The “Taste with The Winemaker” An In-Depth Look at Cutting-Edge Research and Tasting Wines produced mostly at 1.5 tons per acre The Classic “Reserve Tasting” A Review of Inwood's Popular $50 - $100 lineup Wines produced at 3 tons compared to some at 1.5 tons per acre If you come hungry, you can enjoy in-house food service prepared in our Bistro on site. The Bistro serves slow-cooked pulled pork and slow-smoked beef sausage plates, along with gourmet salads, meat and cheese boards, and the famous Smokehouse Board.

Don’t miss out on one of the best kept secrets in the Hill Country, Texas Hills Vineyard.
estled in a valley of the Texas Hill Country along the pristine Sabinal River, the Lost Maples Winery in Vanderpool is a destination all its own. The boutique winery caters specifically to those who love the outdoors and seek an intimate tasting experience. The winery is just a few miles from the acclaimed Lost Maples State Natural Area, and less than an hour-and-a-half from Fredericksburg. Visitors can spend the day sipping wine in the shade of oak trees, enjoying a picnic amongst the vines, or visiting with the winemakers in our tasting room. Native Texans Tom and Glenda Slaughter have created this unique experience on land that has been in their family since before Texas became a state. Glenda and “Texas Tom started the vineyards in 2006 after successful careers in Houston. Tom is a musician and played with Mickey Gilley and ZZ Top during his career.
The winemakers put their talents to work every day in crafting wonderful wines ranging from complex reds to crisp, refreshing whites - and each comes with a unique story. The winery is in the Lost Maples Region, which is known for spectacular scenery, unspoiled rivers and breathtaking drives that are unmatched anywhere else in the state.

rom the top of the Hill Country appellation in San Saba
to the iconic wildflower fields of Wildseed Farms in Fredericksburg, Wedding Oak Winery’s Texas roots do indeed run deep. Named for the historic, 400 year-old matrimonial oak tree near our winery in San Saba, we planted our first estate vineyards in 2000, focusing on varietals and blends that love the red clay loam and limestone pan terroir. After opening our 10,000 case San Saba production facility and tasting room in June 2012, Texas wine travelers began to discover the charm and hospitality of small-town Texas, while
expanding our vineyard plantings in the Hill Country, beginning in 2015 with the first acreage of wine grapes planted at Wildseed Farms. Additional plantings up to 35 acres will go into the ground in 2016-2018, pushing more deep roots into the incredible soils of the Pedernales River basin. In the spring of 2016, Wedding Oak Winery at Wildseed Farms opened its doors with wine experiences that are intertwined with the glory of bluebonnets, poppies, Mexican hat and other portrait-quality wildflowers. Come enjoy our wines as you stroll through the incredible setting of Wildseed Farms on Wine Road 290.

CULTIVATE THE GOOD LIFE
F
or six generations our family has lived on the
Texas landscape. Our forefathers and foremothers
planted cotton and corn. We grow grapes. In 1995 Larry and Jeanine Kuhlken planted their first vines in the Texas Hill Country. They picked the site specifically for its soils of caliche and rich red sandstone. We continue to farm these soils sustainably in order to pass them on as a legacy to the seventh generation.
In 2011, we founded our sister winery, Armadillo’s Leap, to experiment with New World style, fruit-forward wines perfect for everyday sipping. Both wineries have been recognized at International Wine Competitions with Gold and Double Gold medals. When you visit our wineries, our well-educated staff will lead you through a tasting designed to cultivate your appreciation for Texas wine. At our tasting rooms, you can sit back, relax and drink in the beauty of Texas culture and landscape.
“Join us for an afternoon of the good life at your home away from home in the Texas Hill Country!”
