publisher's note Snow White? Armature Works opens? The Art of Hernie Vann? Business Spotlights! It's a smorgasborg. As we grow we find more and more that we want to publish for you and it gets harder and harder to choose. Is it ever complete, probably not. One of the best things about putting this magazine together is getting to know the businesses, and business owners in the local area. I am a bit of an entrepreneur myself and many of those that we work with or that advertise in Lutz Magazine are entrepreneurs. They are my kind of people. Generally strong, independent, intelligent and willing to go the extra mile to get it done. That is, whatever needs to get done. Many hats can be worn. Jack and Jills of all trades! Of course getting to know their businesses in order to help them opens up a world of knowledge and information. With regards to future content in Lutz Magazine, we will be reaching out to our advertisers for informational articles about what they do. For instance, Home Perfect Design (ad to the right here) will be supplying articles on Interior Design. Hey, they are the experts. Good for you, good for us, good for them! Please check out future editions.

OPERATION HELPING HAND

rganized in May 2004, Operation Helping Hand is a special project of the Tampa Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA). Launched by its deceased Captain Robert J. Silah USN (Ret), their effort is dedicated specifically to supporting and enhancing the lives patients and their families. Currently the chairman of the organization is Lieutenant Colonel James Griffin, USA RET. Since the start of the War on Terror, there has been a steady flow of wounded and injured receiving treatment at the Tampa Veterans’ Hospital. Many arrive here with debilitating wounds, including blast injuries, amputations, burns, blindness, brain and spinal cord damage or a combination of these injuries referred to as Polytrauma. They recognize that the most important part of rehabilitation for those wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan is having the love and support of their family. That’s why their assistance ranges from roundtrip commercial air travel for immediate family members to be with their injured loved ones to paying for rental cars, prepaid cell phones, comfort items and many other helpful gestures. They also host monthly dinners at the Spinal Cord Injury Center at the James Haley VA Hospital to honor the injured and wounded. It’s a chance for the community, including military from MacDill Air Force Base. To offer their thanks to these brave soldiers who have given so much for our country. G

FWC congratulates member Edwina R. Kraemer and her team on all their efforts and success in raising almost $36,000 on behalf of Canine Companions for Independence at the recent Dogfest in Al Lopez Park and other fundraising events through the year. Ms. Kraemer has worked tirelessly, through her club and GFWC, raising funds and awareness for this most worthwhile and rewarding project to provide highly trained assistance and service animals to children, adults and veterans with disabilities. Members hosted and served a lovely brunch to the Hope Lodge resident patients receiving extended treatment at Moffitt Cancer Center. This residence provides a home away from home for these patients and spouses and it gives the club members great pleasure to prepare delicious home-cooked meals as well as provide friendly conversation and fellowship during a stressful time. The women also donated puzzles, board games and other items for the residence. Members volunteered to help

“Support The Troops” at its Wesley Chapel warehouse, by packing 21 boxes and filling 462 bags of snack items for the upcoming FlyFest event at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa. The club members presented a donation check to be applied toward postage to ship boxes to troops deployed overseas. Member Donna Losch organizes the team of members who regularly help this very worthy organization pack these boxes filled with important hygiene items, coffee, treats and items which may be unavailable to them in remote outposts. GFWC recently hosted guest speaker Mike Mira, a “Hall of Fame” Ambassador and Zone Director of ShelterBox, an international disaster relief charity. Mr. Mira gave a very informative presentation on this organization which provides almost immediate aid on the basis of needs when an emergency disaster

ShelterBox is a non-government, non-profit which responds very quickly to new disasters on average every 2 weeks and has deployed response teams and equipment in the U.S. and elsewhere around the globe in hurricanes and other catastophes, providing immediate shelter and necessary supplies to aid victims. news Pasco Purchases 40 Acres of Land for Conservation ELAMP land will expand Withlacoochee River Park

E

xpanded natural resourcebased recreation activities will soon be available at Withlacoochee River Park. The expanded park amenities are made possible through Pasco County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources’ Environmental Lands Acquisition Program (ELAMP), which

purchased 40 acres of land next to the entrance of the county-owned Withlacoochee River Park. The land, acquired in March, is also partially within the Withlacoochee RiverParks_ ELAMP Ecological Planning Unit (EPU), and supports several conservation objectives including sustaining buffers to wildlife habitat associated with the Withlacoochee River and the Green Swamp. The Environmental Lands

Acquisition and Management Program (ELAMP) was created in July, 2004 to purchase environmentallysensitive lands throughout the County. ELAMP ensures those lands protect the natural community, connect natural tracts of land, conserve native plant and animal populations, enhance recreational opportunities and expand environmental education. Funding is provided through a portion of the Penny for Pasco surtax. To learn more about Pasco County's ELAMP, including a list of properties on the acquisition list, visit: http://bit. ly/2ntczaM.

By Lori Augustyniak First of all, let me explain the photo of me on this page. I want you to know that I normally don’t pose like this in front of strangers. Honestly. Just ask my husband or my three girls. Heck, ask my three dogs. I don’t ordinarily act like this.

Of course, I always had a good excuse. Having three children - including twins - added about 20 pounds to my frame. But that wasn’t the only reason for my less-than-stellar physique. I’m also a busy working mom. Along with my husband, we operate Horizon Insurance in Sarasota, along with two other businesses. Not having enough time was nothing compared to the allergies and other issues I had to contend with. My neck hurt. My head hurt. I wasn’t sleeping at night, and was tired and stressed during the day. Honestly, who can think about flexing their non-existent muscles at a time like that? But deep down, I knew I needed to make some changes. It was time to get in shape, to lose that extra “baby weight” that I’d been carrying for far too long. Besides, I’d heard that after age 30, we lose 8 to 10 pounds of muscle a decade. I’m 44, so do the math. And it was only going to get worse. The less muscle we have, the more susceptible we are to everything from bone thinning, hip fractures and diabetes, to high cholesterol and blood pressure problems. So what happened? I decided to try a medically-based form of fitness training that would take just 20 minutes a week. Like many people, I was skeptical at first. But the first session was free, so I figured why not? Long story short: this place – it’s called 20 Minutes to Fitness – has literally changed the way I look at exercise forever. It’s also changing the way I am going to look forever! Take another look at that photo. I built my new body working out just 20 minutes a week. I did it safely, using special physical therapy equipment with a personal trainer at my side. Lori Augustyniak Age 44 Sarasota, FL

20 Minutes Once a Week!

But right now, I just can’t help it. I haven’t looked like this in a long time and just had to show off a bit! For most of the past fifteen years you see, I have been overweight and out of shape.

The results? I’m down 18 pounds and dropped two dress sizes to a size 2, thanks both to the workout and some excellent nutrition advice from my trainer. I no longer need my allergy medication, and my chronic headaches are gone. I’m sleeping better, and my stress level is down. And, oh yes, did I mention my new body?

How Do You Build A Custom Home?

By Toni Hedstrom

B

uilding a custom home can be daunting. It’s difficult to know where to start in the process. In many cases a person will turn to their Real Estate Agent for advice. This is a smart option as your Real Estate Professional should have resources and recommendations to get you started. As with any home purchase the logical starting point is your loan pre-approval. There are many loan programs and, the structure of your particular loan program will be the guiding force establishing the working order of your project. Finding a lender who is experienced and understands construction loans is crucial to the process. The most optimal loan program is the ‘One-Time-Close’ Construction to Perm loan states Brian Popp, Branch Manager of Union Home Mortgage in Tampa. “Basically what you do first is pick out a lot and choose a builder. The builder will then determine the land cost and combine that with the home cost to create a total home cost. This is the amount we use for the loan,” says Popp.

Choosing your builder: The builder you choose for your custom home project should have exceptional credentials, testimonials and references. Toni Hedstrom Your builder is someone you will spend many months with and someone who will be heading one of the most important projects of your life – Building your home! Your builder is also a required asset when it comes to choosing your home location. When shopping for a lot you can’t concentrate strictly on the sales price of the land. Your builder will visit potential lots to determine the land costs which, combined with the lot price and home price, ultimately become part of your final home costs. One of the things we offer is a free consultation for every client. If there is a particular piece of land they are looking at, we will research the survey, easements, setbacks and discuss site development for the lot states Marcus Smith of Smith Custom Homes in Tampa. “We look at specifics such as well costs and septic costs. We look at how many trees are going to have to be removed or how much fill is required. Ultimately, we help determine the site development costs so the client is armed with the information they need before making an offer on the land,” says Smith.

Key Initial Steps: • Call your Real Estate Agent • Choose a Lender and get Pre-Approved • Choose a floor plan or have one designed • Choose a Builder • Choose home location • Have Builder establish total cost of the home including home cost, land cost, and site development cost. • Submit to Lender for approval

Starting the loan:

“Once the package has been submitted,” says Popp “we lock your interest rate. The loan process from there is like any other home purchase. It is a one time close so once the loan is closed, we begin distributing draws from the loan proceeds to the builder over the course of the building project.” It is important to state that the lender will require the builder submit specific documentation to ensure they are financially responsible and accredited. The lender is making 12 | LUTZ MAGAZINE | MAY 2018 | TO ADVERTISE CALL 813-501-4894

an investment in the builder as the builder is responsible for the lender’s collateral. “Not only does the buyer have to qualify for the loan, the builder must qualify for the project,” says Popp.

Toni's Real Estate Take-Away Building a custom home is such an exciting experience. It really does take a team to make it happen. Your Real Estate Agent can be a great asset because they represent you and your best interest. Consider your Agent as your support staff in the process. The lender is important because they control the money and help with the vetting of your builder. And, the builder is obviously crucial to the team. Choose your team wisely. NVIROTECT PEST CONTROL SERVICE

N

virotect Pest Control Services was developed to fill a gap within the pest control industry. For many years home owners and businesses have allowed pest control companies to manage their properties with traditional methods, application techniques and product usage. Nvirotect realized a better way must exist, so they developed new procedures that are state of the art and focused around solid research. Over time Nvirotect was able to develop pest control application methods that truly reduce the need for harsh pesticides and maintain a pest free environment. This procedure allows an Nvirotect service technician to choose products based on specific needs and not just broadcast treat an area. In addition, Nvirotect technicians maintain an abundant selection of products at all times. These products range from 100% naturally occurring products to conventional pesticides. Having a large product base, their programs can be guaranteed 100% in even the most involved projects. Overall, their system helps create a “Greener” more sustainable environment. ACCORDING TO NVIROTECT: "We will exceed our customers' expectations by delivering the highest quality service available at all times. type, degree of infestation and surrounding environment. There is no such thing as a standard solution for pest control. An Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach also requires careful selection of pest control products when their use is necessary. Whereas traditional exterminators often apply cheap, highly-toxic pesticides in abundance, they opt to select the best reduced toxicity or non-toxic products available on the market for effective pest elimination. While their carefully selected product line includes natural-based pest control products, they also utilize a variety of cutting edge, target-specific products that are engineered to be more effective, biodegradable and, in some cases, even less toxic than their natural counterparts. In addition, their application methods target pest areas such as feeding and nesting areas, as well as entry points. This crack-and-crevice approach eliminates the need for broadcast application, in turn reducing the amount of product used and your exposure to it. COMPLETE PEST CONTROL SERVICE On top of offering environmentally, safe and effective Green Pest Control, Nvirotect also is a full-service pest control company.

The Art of Local Artist

Hernie Vann

Mr. Vann sells his original art on his website:

www.VannArt.com

A

true Florida son, Hernie Vann was born right here in Tampa and grew up in East Tampa. From the beginning, he was singled out as an artist. His teachers could always count on him to be original in the art of making the classroom a creative place for learning. After graduating from Hillsborough High School, Hernie went to the University of Tampa for a year. The outbreak of the Korean War interrupted his education and Hernie enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. After spending four years in the Coast Guard, he then went back to the University of Tampa to earn a degree in Art Education. Upon graduation he went to work for the Hillsborough County School Department of Education and taught art for 35 years. During this time, Hernie managed to go back to school to earn a MA Degree at the University of South Florida. Hernie also spent time teaching in Junior College as well as Adult Education. Hernie’s art has always been a significantly important part of his life. His painting style and techniques vary from impressionism to realism, depending on his feelings at the time and subject matter. However, he enjoys painting Florida scenes realistically. Hernie feels that it is very important to try to paint Florida’s landscapes as he saw them as a child growing up in the wildness that was here not too long ago. He paints his Florida landscapes and trompe l’oeils in acrylic with attention to the gorgeous light and ambience that signifies the beauty of Florida. Artist statement, “I really enjoy painting Florida scenes! A lot of Florida is no longer there. Painting seems to remind me of the old days when I hunted and fished along the river and streams here in Hillsborough County. Places that are no longer there. It is nice to remember them as they once were. 22 | LUTZ MAGAZINE | MAY 2018 | TO ADVERTISE CALL 813-501-4894

Benefits of Hemp CBD oil for Dogs

N

atural medicines and essential oils are very popular these days and, believe it or not, your pets can benefit from some of the same all-natural supplements as humans do. All-natural Hemp CBD oil for dogs is one of the latest methods pet owners are using to help treat or prevent numerous pet ailments. Cannabidiol (CBD) for pets is derived from hemp, a variety of the cannabis plant species, yet contains less than 1% of the psychoactive properties commonly associated with cannabis. Instead, it contains compounds that interact naturally with your dog’s immune, nerve and endocannabinoid systems.

Why Dogs Need Hemp/CBD Oil Unlike fish oil, hemp seed oil contains the perfect ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3 fatty acids. These are essential fatty acids, meaning dogs can’t produce them, and need to get them as a part of their diet. A good balance of these Omega oils is critical to your dog’s health because they work synergistically in the body. Hemp seeds are also high in an essential plantderived Omega-6 fatty acid called gamma linolenic acid (GLA). And CBD oil contains cannabinoids (CBD, CBDA, CBN, CBG, and terpenes) which are proven to both treat and prevent several common pet health concerns.

Fights Cancer and Shrinks Tumors Researchers at the American Cancer Society say there’s evidence that people with cancer, diabetes and skin allergies don’t produce enough GLA; these issues have proven to be incredibly common in dogs too. While GLA is considered a conditionally essential fatty acid (most dogs can make enough of it, most of the time), there are many circumstances like hard exercise or stress in which dogs can’t produce enough GLA—making it extremely important for you to provide it as a nutritional supplement. Finally, because GLA is perfectly balanced with

Omega-3 fatty acids, hemp seed oil will help reduce inflammation in your dog and strengthen his or her immune system. I’ve even administered CBD oil on a daily basis, to treat a small fatty tumor on my Doberman’s eye; within a matter of weeks the tumor had nearly disappeared!

Reduces Joint Pain and Inflammation The Journal of Arthritis and Rheumatology has reported that the GLA found in hemp seeds reduced arthritis symptoms by 25%, compared to a placebo at 4%. There are two main cannabinoid receptors in both human and canine nervous systems, known as CB1 and CB2. The CB1 receptors are more affected by the presence of THC—controlling perception, memory, mood, sleep and appetite—while CB2 receptors affect the immune system. The compounds in the plant that play a role in inhibiting inflammation are the substances that activate the CB2 receptors, as inflammation is an immune response. GLA is not the only compound in cannabis that activates the CB2 receptor. A terpenoid known as betacaryophyllene is found in hemp extract, and also activates this receptor with no psychoactive effect. In addition to its anti-inflammatory benefits, CBD Oil has also been shown to have anti-psychotic, anti-convulsant, anti-oxidant and immunomodulatory effects.

Improves Skin and Coat Hemp seed has long been used in cosmetic products and soaps because the oil can penetrate the inner layers of the skin and promote healthy cellular growth. The balanced fatty acids also play an important role in reducing the inflammation associated with common pet skin issues, including yeast infections, hot-spots, itching and dermatitis. As an anti-inflammatory, CBD oil can relieve systemic inflammation that causes hives,

blisters and whole-body itching. And it helps fight skin allergies by promoting healthy cell growth.

Helps Relieve Anxiety Does your dog become frantic when you leave, or when a thunderstorm is approaching? CBD oil can also help with depression and anxiety by playing in a role in the serotonin pathways. I give CBD oil to my dogs during every thunderstorm and it calms them down, almost instantly, after ingestion. Hemp CBD oil has also proven to calm anxiety and reduce obsessive behaviors in dogs, like chewing and licking.

Where to get it? The Pet Pharma line of Hemp CBD oil products are sold online at and at Beautify the Beast in Lutz Florida. These vegan hemp oil spray/tinctures are made from non-GMO hemp grown without pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers. These all-natural formulas contain hemp CBD complex, hemp seed oil, terpenes, and coconut oil. They are also high in essential fatty acids, offering the perfect ratio of Omega-3 and Omega-6, and contain a full spectrum hemp oil with CBD, CBG, CBN, and CBDA. These ingredients come together for synergistic, long-lasting beneficial effects for your dogs. ANGIE ARDOLINO pictured with her 10 year old, mini schnauzer Odie, is co-owner of Beautify the Beast. She has a Professional Certificate in Cannabis Science and Medicine from the University of Vermont’s Larner College of Medicine. She has been caring and working with animals for over 25 years and has a rescue farm in Lutz, Florida. She administers Hemp CBD oil to herself and her four dogs every day. id you know almost 20% (40 million people) of the adult population in the United States suffer from anxiety each year? Even though the medical profession considers this is a very treatable disease, only about one-third of affected people seek treatment.

Anxiety as a potentially qualifying diagnosis

Many people suffer from debilitating anxiety to a degree comparable to the anxiety experienced by patients diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Under Florida law, this similarity allows certified physicians the option of treating anxiety patients with medical cannabis. In addition to evaluating each patient, at Wholistic ReLeaf we require that patients provide us medical documentation stating their condition. This is so we can confirm the qualifying diagnosis prior to certifying them to receive medical cannabis.

The effect of cannabis on anxiety

While some people report increased anxiety when using medical cannabis, most people who use cannabis as a medical therapy find it helps to relieve the symptoms, sometimes reversing them completely. When patients initially start medical cannabis, including those with chronic anxiety, I recommend beginning treatment with cannabidiol (CBD) only, and no THC. I have received many first-hand reports that using CBD by itself reduced or eliminated the patient’s anxiety. I find the best way to optimize treatment is to start with a low dose of CBD and then slowly increase the amount of CBD to determine the effect on the individual patient. Although THC increases anxiety in some patients, for others a small amount of THC can work synergistically with the CBD to bring even better results. While there is a tremendous amount of variability from patient to patient, certain strains are reported to have a better effect on reducing anxiety. In addition to utilizing medical cannabis, all people with anxiety (in fact all patients who suffer from mental health conditions) should also be under the regular care of a mental health professional. We can provide referrals if needed. Hopefully, a person can resolve the underlying issues causing the anxiety, so they no longer need the medical cannabis treatment, but many people with anxiety require long-term care. Although more significant and longer-term studies are needed, it appears that for adults the side effect profile for medical cannabis is better than for many of the other pharmacological treatments available. Dr. David Berger (“Dr. David”), of Wholistic ReLeaf is a Board Certified Pediatrician with over 20 years of experience as a clinician, has developed a national reputation in wholistic pediatric primary care. Dr. David is considered Tampa Bay area’s leading authority on medical cannabis for adults and children, and is one of the nation’s most experienced pediatricians using medical cannabis to help facilitate the treatment of children with chronic conditions. What to Plant ANNUALS: Plants that can take summer heat include salvia, torenia, wax begonia, coleus, and ornamental pepper. BULBS: Some lilies do better when their roots are crowded. Try planting Amazon, Aztec, and Clivia lilies in containers to increase blooming. HERBS: Plant heat-loving herbs, including basil, Mexican tarragon, and rosemary. Vegetables: Southern favorites to plant now are okra, southern peas, and sweet potato.

What to Do PESTS: Watch for thrips, scale, and mites on ornamental plants because they become more active in warm weather. GARDENIAS: Distinguish between the normal yellowing of older leaves and the yellowing of new growth, which usually indicates a micronutrient deficiency. OLEANDERS: Inspect chewed or ragged leaves for oleander caterpillars at work. LAWNS: Watch for damage from chinch bugs in St. Augustinegrass and begin scouting for newly hatched mole crickets in bahiagrass lawns. May is usually a dry month; do not mistake irrigation problems with a pest infestation. Lawns: Prevent or minimize disease by following proper cultural practices. TOMATOES: Watch for pests, disease, and nutritional disorders on tomato plants. TREES: Prepare for hurricane season by checking trees for damaged or weak branches and pruning if needed. What is Invisalign? How does Invisalign work? How long does it take? Is it painful? Do I need to wear retainers afterwards?

Invisalign Not everyone is born with a perfect smile. Dealing with crooked and misaligned teeth, however, can really decrease a person's self-confidence and make one avoid smiling. Fortunately, there is the option of getting braces to straighten teeth. Braces can transform crooked teeth into a dazzling smile. If you are not comfortable with wearing traditional metal braces, you can opt for clear Invisalign braces. Here are four advantages of Invisalign braces.

Practically Invisible

The most obvious benefit of Invisalign braces is they are practically invisible. No one will know that you are even wearing braces unless you tell them. This is a great advantage for adults who might feel like they look childish with metal braces.

Easily Removable

Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign braces are easily removable. This means that you can maintain your oral hygiene with ease. You can brush and floss your teeth a lot easier since you can just take the braces off. The ability to remove clear braces also makes eating a lot easier. You will not have to worry about food getting stuck in between your braces.

Comfortable to Wear

Another great thing about clear braces is they are more comfortable to wear. You do not have to worry about braces cutting against your gums and irritating them.

Fewer Office Visits

If you have Invisalign braces, you will need fewer office visits. In fact, you will only have to see a cosmetic dentist every four to six weeks. This can free up your busy schedule and give you more free time while you wear braces. Invisalign braces come with a lot of wonderful advantages. They are no more expensive than traditional braces and are less of a hassle. After you are done wearing your clear braces, you will be left with a smile that will leave others envious.

I

Achieve an Amazing Smile with an Invisalign Treatment!

nvisalign works by replacing clear trays (aligners) every 7 to 14 days to move your teeth little by little. Depending on your tolerance of discomfort, you can change the trays in as little as seven days to speed up the treatment. You may feel tightness or discomfort after changing your trays since your teeth will be shifting every time a new aligner is placed. Dr. Dan at Pasco Dental takes you easily through the process. "After taking full mouth X-rays, we want to make sure that your teeth are clean, cavity free and repair any broken teeth. We then take the necessary photos of your face, profile, and your teeth. Afterwards, we will take an impression of your teeth. For those patients with a gag reflex, we can take digital scan using intraoral scanner. " It takes about 3 weeks to receive your aligners. One cool aspect of the Invisalign procedure is that you can view online what your teeth will look like during and after treatment and know exactly how long it is going to take to complete the treatment. With an invisalign treatment, not only can you straighten crooked teeth but you also can correct deep bites and underbites at the same time. Depending on how much correction is needed, your cost varies. For some patients who just need a minor touch up, Invisalign Express (up to 5 aligners) or Invisalign Lite(upto 10 aligners) will be appropriate. After invisalign treatment is completed, you will need to wear retainers. Either you can get 4 sets Vivara retainers from Invisalign or can get a fixed wire retainer in the back of your front teeth depending on how vigilant you are about wearing your retainers. Like anything else, you need to constantly monitor your teeth to see if there is any shifting or if retainers are fitting properly.

Come visit Dr. Dan at Pasco Dental for a Complimentary Invisalign Exam and Consultation!

Take advantage of this amazing technology to give yourself a beautiful smile for life. For the month of May and June, Dr. Dan at Pasco Dental is offering a FREE Zoom whitening kit with any Invisalign Case. Now you can have both straight teeth and pearly white teeth. Wonderful!

Medical Weight Loss, LLC at (813) 269-SLIM

“Weigh less for WAY less”

or many people, losing weight is at the top of their bucket list. For others, it is the only way to become, and feel healthy again. Many of us have tried yo-yo diets, or buy the expensive celebrity promoted trends, that pop up in social media and TV and radio commercial hype. The failed weight loss remains, and people continue to be discouraged. However, Medical Weight Loss, LLC at (813) 269-SLIM has been proving since 2007, that weight loss, whether 10 pounds or 120 pounds, can be done safely, affordably and successfully! Many different diseases, such as diabetes, auto-immune and thyroid problems and heart disease, are linked to being overweight. We know about these things. Weight loss is not just a matter of looking good, but, is a medical program of improving your health and reducing your risks. Feeling better, is also a great by-product of slimming down. Medical Weight Loss opened in 2007, and is headed by Dr. Gail Jachimek. The main clinic is located at 5111 Ehrlich Road. Their other weight loss clinics are in Wesley Chapel, FL., Lake Geneva, and Waukesha, Wisconsin. Their prices have not increased since they began the medical weight loss practice. Dr. Jachimek and her husband are both Chiropractic physicians, and have those clinics here and in Spring Hill. So, they also treat patients that are in pain from accident injuries, and have every

Dr. Gail Jachimek day neck or back pain! Their medical weight loss program combines pharmaceutical appetite suppressant medication, fat burning injections and pills, and a clinically proven diet with medical doctor and nursing support and counseling to help their patients reach their “target” weight goals. This physician supervised program helps those who have before tried and failed to lose unwanted pounds. Dr. Gail says, “We opened the clinic because I was entering menopause and gaining weight. When I asked my primary physician, as well as my doctor friends, for help, I got extremely rude responses. I was told to “push away from the table”. Dr. Gail does not want her patients to go through the same degrading experience. At the time, Dr. Gail was living on chicken and salad, and practicing level 3 kickboxing. She says, “I had been thin as a young woman, so I also assumed that anyone over weight deserved to be overweight because they were ‘eating chips in front of the television,’ etc.” When the unexplained weight gain happened to her, she was then convinced that other factors were involved. She wanted an answer. Determined to learn more, Dr. Jachimek joined the ASBP (American Society of Bariatric Physicians) and went to their

symposiums for further education and tools. She discovered that there are many contributing factors to weight gain - not just your diet. Some of the major contributing factors included hormonal imbalances, thyroid issues, environmental toxins, autoimmune disease, type 2 diabetes, etc. It was then that she opened the main clinic in Tampa to help people dealing with the same frustrating weight gain frustration she had faced. They have since opened 3 more clinics in Florida and Wisconsin. “At Medical Weight Loss, LLC, we have medical doctors, as well as nurse practitioners, that have been treating our patients successfully for years, so that the root cause of these problems can be addressed. Our registered nurses and supportive staff are there for you to help you every step of the way.” Medical weight loss plans are not new, and many are similar, but those programs usually involve significant upcharges and hidden fees. Dr. Jachimek’s 269-SLIM program is different. Her program is focused on the long-term results, meaning, not only will the process safely take off your weight during the active phase of the program, but also prevent the pounds from returning during the “maintenance phase”...(which is free)! This is no diet trend – This is looking at your medical history, evaluating your EKG, bloodwork and lifestyle. Then, their doctors propose a plan for you, and prescribe appropriate pharmaceutical appetite suppressant medication, fat burning injections, vitamin therapy and fat burning supplements. “The program is simple, inexpensive and easy to follow. We give you a large list of foods to buy/choose from,” says Dr. Jachimek. “The program is easy, because it is food bought in the grocery store, (no special foods to order) just regular meats,

fruits and vegetables on our list. This factor also makes it more affordable, because you don’t have to buy special foods, or cook separate dinners if you have a family.” Under the supervision of their medical doctors, patients can drop 20 to 30 pounds in the first month. Dr. Jachimek said that it is common to see 5-10 pounds dropped in the first week. “We have had patients that have lost 17 pounds in their first week, as well as patients that have lost over a hundred pounds on our program”, says Dr. Jachimek. Accountability is also a major part of the program. Keeping the patients safe and on track, their nurses evaluate, and treat patients weekly to provide support and give suggestions on how to reach and maintain their target weight. Dr. Jachimek stresses that there are no price surprises at Medical Weight Loss, 269-SLIM. The initial visit is $195 and weekly visits are just $55. That’s it! This is what you have been waiting for!, an inexpensive, easy and successful way to lose the unwanted pounds that have made you miserable for years. As their slogans say, “With 269- SLIM (MEDICALWEIGHTLOSSLLC.COM) there are no hidden fees…just pounds gone”…or “Weigh less for WAY less”…or “When you’re done fooling around, call us!”. Medical Weight Loss LLC is located at 5111 Ehrlich Road, Suite 128 in Tampa, 33624. For more information or to make an appointment, call (813) 269-SLIM (7546).
