Macedonian Grey pottery is the main competitor of the imported pottery in the Balkans. It can be found in almost all Late Antiquity settlements in Macedonia: Scupi, Stobi, Heracklea Lyncestis, Lychnidos, Isar near Marvinci, Kochani, Konjuh, Dojran, Valandovo, Thessalonica, Chalkidiki, Toroni, Thasos, Philippi, Kyustendil, Pernik, Sandanski, the sites on the Gorna Struma, and in the southern part of Serbia.
The distinguishing feature of this lyxury tableware are its forms, which mainly follow the African pottery, and its decoration and quality of the which reflected the appearance of modern ware.
It can be continuosly followed in the 4th, 5th and early 6th century, altough it sporadically appears until the end of 6th century.
