01. parapet house
Project Documentation
This project promotes engagement with the complexity of project specific documentation. The primary and secondary structures of the parapet house consist of 4 major elements. These elements include reinforced tilt up pre-cast panels for the external walls, a stiffened raft slab for the footings, a hollow-core suspended slab for the upper level and Zincalume roof sheeting. The soil classification for the site is a class M soil. The site was modified to include a “cut and fill, therefore the raft slab had to be modified to accommodate the cut and fill. The garage level is set at a different level to the main house area due to the cut and fill, therefore accessing the house requires going up stairs. All other elements are either reinforced with steel bars or are braced to give the structure a bit more rigidity to the structure to allow for earth movement and natural forces.

Studio: Future Now
Stork Industries is the world leader in the creation of perfect, genetically enhanced babies. A Human Genetic Breeding facility; Stork Industries was the first company to give parents the possibility of having the perfect child by removing the imperfection of probability. Stork’s services offer the certainty to trancend any limitation in the offspring via the manipulation of Epigenetic, Theraputic Cloning and Artificial Womb Techonology. Stork is located within the borders of China, where overpopulation has always been a constant problem; the rapid increasing population growth caused a situation where more resources were consumed than produced. As a direct result, the Chinese Governments introduced the One Child policy in 1979 to battle against this problematic situation. However even with this safeguard, China’s population of 1.357 Billion is one sixth of the world population today. Stork Industries emerged as consumers and parents-tobe showed a desire to have the perfect child – where a single child carries on the legacy of whole families. Stork Industries can optimize a child’s health, looks, and genetic prospects. Presented as a part of Studio: Future Now, UDMK

03. NEW KLONDIKE
Design Thesis: Flirting with Space The rise and fall of nations’ industries have played a signif icant role in the formation and evolution of signif icant cultures around the world. However as often these sites inhabited for industrial use become heavily scarred once the industry has gathered the needed resources and abandoned the site to a presumption of decay. This thesis explores how architectural interventions can be designed to actively create a better environment and cater for a new industry. It is set on Mars in an environment where human survival dependent on the technology development. In this semi-f ictional world, Humans have been mining on Mars for over 70 years and the mining boom is now over, making way for a new industry which is a Innovative Tech Hub that patents their technology and licensed it to earth. The remains of the mining industries have left permanent scars on the landscapes they occupied. This thesis argues that by re-purposing some of the original site and infrastructures into the new industry by interlacing with public path and amenities such as markets and a centralised transport

A well-designed building results in an ecosystem that is inclusive of all the needs of ALL species, and recognises equity for all users. As design is inevitably a team exercise, a well-designed building is almost without exception the product of teamwork. The relationship between a building and its context can be “considered as an ecosystem, characterized by its history, its structure and function… and the cycling and conversion of energy and materials… [with] its own spatial organisation and distinctive patterns of change through time, which result in patterns of species’ behaviours, population’s dynamics and the formation of communities” (Sukopp, 2002).
