Ever since a 77-55 win over Sonoma State on Dec. 30, the Tritons had reeled off six straight wins. However, UC San Diego lost a pair of games at home against Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona last weekend, dropping UCSD into a tie for fourth place with Chico State in the CCAA standings. Led by the 19.1 points per game of the reigning CCAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Year, Chelsea Carlisle, the Tritons have three others scoring double-figures, including Emily Osgo (12.7 ppg), Daisy Feder (10.6) and Lauren Freidenberg (10.4). UCSD leads the conference in scoring, averaging 76.4 points per contest, but they give up the second-most points in the CCAA (68.1). The Tritons also lead the conference in field goal percentage (.436), free throw percentage (.761), assists (16.5) and three-point field goals made (8.3). UC San Diego has won seven straight against Sonoma State, dating back to 2/9/2008, and lead the all-time series, 14-9.
