Exhibition Overview
Organizers aim to expand business and cultivate new markets overseas for Taiwan’s quality agriculture
Professionals ready for Taiwan International Fruit and Vegetable Show With the aim of providing practical solutions for the development of quality agriculture in Asia, the first Taiwan International Fruit and Vegetable Show (TFVS) was inaugurated by local company MY Exhibition and Sphere Exhibits Malaysia from the media group Singapore Press Holdings (SPH). Instructed by the Council of Agriculture of the Legislative Yuan and the Kaohsiung City Government, the event will run from Nov. 10-12 at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center alongside the second Taiwan International Fisheries and Seafood Show. The two shows are expected to draw a total of 600 exhibitors from 16 countries and 8,000 professional buyers to the venue. Organizers hope it will help expand business and cultivate new markets overseas for Taiwan’s quality agriculture. The exhibition consists of six exhibition zones: the “Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Zone,” the “Edible Flowers and Aromatic Plants Zone,” the “Rice Crops, Nuts and Processed Products Zone,” the “Processing Equipment Zone,” the “Cultivation Techniques and Equipment Zone” and the “Industrial Services Zone.” Under the theme “Innovative Industry Chain,” the show will focus on advantages of the island’s agricultural technology and provide insight for making Taiwan a quality one-stop service center. The Agriculture and Food Agency of the Council of Agriculture will be hosting the “Fruits and Vegetables of Taiwan Pavilion.” Highlights of the pavilion not only include fresh premium produce and specialty products from Taiwan, but the exhibition also showcases the latest farming methods, agricultural machinery and techniques. Show-goers will be able to see how Taiwan has applied technical advancements such as biomimicry, aquaponics, plant factories, agricultural drones, organic fertilizers, eco-technology, intelligent agriculture and more to farming. Agriculture departments of the local governments of Taichung, Kaohsiung, Hualien, Pingtung, Tainan County and others will set up booths at the event. Representatives from
Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, South Africa and the U.S. will participate in the event’s Overseas Zone. Other highly-anticipated activities are the “Hosted Buyer Program,” “1-on-1 Procurement Meetings,” “Custom-planned Factory Tour Visits,” the international forum, culinary shows from chefs and much more. Seminars on international marketing skills for fruits will be conducted with international keynote speakers from South Africa, Malaysia, Thailand and other countries, who were invited by the Taiwan Economic Research Institute to give an overview of the current state of the market and insight on marketing skills in their home countries. The show is honored to have a government representative from the Agriculture Department of Malaysia and the chairman from Thailand division of the Asia-Pacific’s AgriFood Commerce Association speaking on such subjects. These prominent speakers will not only give buyers an

overview of the show, but will also enhance and enrich the exhibition, providing “fruitful” thought for industry development. In the near future, Asia is expected to become the region with the greatest increase in demand for agricultural produce. Emerging markets in ASEAN countries have helped drive a rise in exports from Taiwan. Both the island’s results in agricultural research and strength in the IT industry are recognized worldwide. Taiwan’s mature agricultural technologies,
abundant experience and human resources pave the way for success in the rural economic system and the IT industry. It will not only increase production efficiency and agricultural income, but also boost international competitiveness and environmental sustainability. Keeping this in mind, exhibition organizers have gone to great lengths to establish a professional trade platform, hoping to bring Taiwan under the spotlight in the industry.

papaya, bananas and burdock from throughout Pingtung; organic specialty fruits and vegetables from Haifeng, the red beans and rice of Donggang and onions in Hengchun. These products are also the mainstay of county agricultural exports. Processed products such as the Linluo Lemon and Manjhou’s original blend black bean soy sauce are made from painstakingly cultivated source material of high quality, and are also highly popular in the domestic market. In order to promote visibility and awareness of excellent Pingtung agricultural specialties and processed products and expand networks for export, international buyers and guests have been invited to form an international VIP visiting group to experience Pingtung’s agricultural bounties. While stabilizing markets and expanding international networks, Pingtung’s international visibility will be increased by a big boost in future export orders.
