Brunswick Healthcare & Childcare Centre North Fitzroy, Junction of Brunswick St & Alexander Parade
Informed by site The health & childcare centre was designed to
be considerate of the existing building
located at the corner of the junction. To shift the focus and attention to the existing facade, the new building follows the profile of existing and is purposefully designed to have a 'free facade'.
To address the corner condition, the building was designed in a way to reveal the interior activities
when
viewed
from
the
corner
of
the street. When approached straight on from either entrances, one would only experience a large expanse of brick wall with a single entry opening.

the object - enclosed space - and
sizes the hierarchy of the spaces.

Urban Village North Fitzroy, 181 Irving Street
Urban Village aims to bridge communities of different social status, breaking the social stigma and transcend social differences. The focus is to provide a combination of social co-housing and middle-class housing amongst various communal public & quasi-private spaces and facilities.
Analysing & implementing edge conditions 'the adaptable edge' 'the undulated edge' 'the extended edge' 'the heritage edge' 'the layered edge' 'the seasonal edge' 'porous terrain' 'porous climate' 'porous views'

Footscray Learning Centre Footscray, 181 Irving street
Footscray Learning Centre aims to respond to the issue of 'gentrification' occuring in Footscray. The project serves as a platform that bridges disparities between diverse ethnic groups through the act of sharing knowledge within the local community. This project is also programmatically designed to provide opportunities for individuals in the community to improve their skillset and remain relevant in the current socioeconomic environment.

'Reigniting a Sense of Belonging' As commercialisation transforms the urban fabric of the site, traditional craft, activites and businesses unique to the site start to lose their place in the local community area. By recreating a space that accomodates these programs, the project reignites a sense of belonging for the local community.
'Lost craft - Teo Chew Lantern Making' Driven by the art of lantern making, this project borrows ideas of translucency,
concepts of the lantern structure
and its materialtity.
'Interweaving'
The design of the arts centre revolves around the concept of

of
