Flight: Malaysia Airlines 370 origin: Kuala Lumpur, malaysia Destination: Beijing, china Aircraft: Boeing 777 Pilot: Zaharie Ahmad Shah Co-pilot: Fariq Abdul Hamid Passengers: 227 Crew:12
on the 8th march 2014, malaysian airlines flight 370 departed from kuala lumpur international airport and was due to arrive in beijing,, china, 6 hours later. However, contact was lost less than an hour after takeoff. The plane, along with its passengers, is yet to be found. Malaysian air traffic control last had contact with flight mh370 at 1.19am. the final words heard spoken from the cockpit were "Good night Malaysian three seven zero". Since then, the whereabouts of the plane and all 229 people on board have been a mystery.
expected to arrive in beijing at 6:30am
No distress signal or message was sent to indicate to those on the ground that the plane was in any trouble. A few minutes after the last communications with air traffic control, the plane's transponder was shut down as the aircraft crossed from malaysian traffic control to vietnamese airspace somewhere over the south china sea. The transponder is what allows communication between the aeroplane and ground radars. Almost an hour after the last contact was made with the plane, malaysian military radars spotted flight mh370 near penang, meaning it had taken a massive deviation from it's intended route.

16 days after the plane went missing, malaysian prime minister Najib Razak announced that flight mh370 is assumed to have crashed somewhere in the south indian ocean, thousands of miles away from the plane’s intended flight path. nobody is thought to have survived. 12
The search for malaysia airlines flight 370 began primarily in the south china sea, where the plane was last known to be on course for it's intended flight route. However, after it was confirmed by malaysian military radars that the plane had suddenly changed course from north to west, the search relocated to the sea west of malaysia. on saturday 15th march, the malaysian prime minister najib razak revealed that evidence suggested somebody aboard the plane had deliberately diverted the aircraft approximately an hour after takeoff. A week after flight mh370 went missing, analysis of communications between the plane and satellites determined that the aircraft had continued flying for several hours and the final transmission from the flight was made over the Southern Indian ocean, west of Australia. As of the 7th january 2015, over 80,000 sq mi of seafloor has been scoured to no avail. The search for Flight 370 has been the most expensive search operation in aviation history but is yet to locate any physical debris from the aircraft.
