MODULE SUBMISSON FORM SUBMISSION DEADLINE: WEDNESDAY 12TH DECEMBER – 11 – 12pm RATIONALE Throughout the course of the OUGD301 Design Practice III module, I hope to create a body of work that is reflective of my ambitions to create conceptual and innovative brand solutions, balancing both image-driven and typographic design, whilst working with clients on an individual and personalised basis with a focus on brand and market ethics within the clients specific sector. With a variety of both self initiated and live client briefs, I also hope to emulate and experience the work timetable and project outcomes that may ordinarily be found in a professional design studio. Title and Brief Summary – include a short rationale for each brief identifying why you chose it, what was the focus of the brief and how long you spent on it. BRIEF 1

Jessie Leong Photography Developing a range of digital and printed brand outcomes to help promote the personal and professional photographic portfolio of BA (Hons) Photography Leeds College of Art degree student, Jessie Leong, visually communicating her contemporary high fashion and editorial design portfolio. Approximately eight weeks was spent on this brief, with a strong working relationship with the client a multitude of both print and digital outcomes were produced to create a substantial product range with view of networking, promotion and distribution of work.

BRIEF 2

YCN/ UK Greetings 2013 Produce a range of personal greetings card and accompanying gift items within a hypothetical brand on behalf of UK Greetings, a West Yorkshire-based gift card company supplier, as part of, and developed from the 2012/13 National YCN competition brief. Approximately two weeks were spent on the development of the brief, from the concept development to print and finishing, allowing me to experience a quick turnaround brief, as well as exploring packaging design (something relatively unfamiliar and uncommon in my existing design portfolio) for a National competition brief, to be submitted December 2012.

BRIEF 3

Leeds University Union Ballet Society Developing a range of branded, promotional media for the members of the Leeds University Union Ballet Society to help encourage and promote means of communication and contact. Developing the branded, unisex hoodie design for the Leeds Univeristy Union Ballet Society members and chairpersons for 2012. Approximately six weeks in total were spent on the development of the brief, from initial client meetings and concept development to communication with professional print services and industry and the finishing and realisation of printed design outcomes.

BRIEF 4

James Maxwell Architectural Design Develop a range of printed/branded stationary outcomes to help promote the personal and professional practice of Interior Architecture student, James Maxwell, to visually communicate the themes of interest and existing body of work in his design portfolio as he seeks employment and industry experience upon graduation in 2013. Approximately four weeks in total were spent on the development of the brief and project outcomes, from discussing potential design ideas and outcomes with the client and initial logo development to the re-writing of the branded stationary brief, and the realisation and documentation of the finalised printed design.

BRIEF 5

Leeds College of Art Christmas Card 2012 Produce a print and e-card/motion graphics corporate card design for the Leeds College of Art education institute that can be distributed to friends, family, and industry professionals. Approximately two days were spent on this short turn-around brief, working on both the printed design and a short motion graphics design for the submission to the Marketing department of the college arts institution, from concept development, design development and the realisation of both print and digital outcomes.
