I took my CHURCHES designs into mono print and plan on doing two different album covers for this song. I also took my Tame Impala designs into mono print but only plan on doing one design.
I took my original rough to mono print and free hand drew the design using blue inks on various papers. I think that the graph paper is the strongest as it adds texture alongside the print itself. I played around with the exposure levels in Photoshop which enhanced the image a lot.
For the second CHURCHES design I stayed with the idea of using a motif and also used mono print to execute it. Again I took it into Photoshop to develop it and used the exposure levels to enhance the print which I think was really successful as it cleans the image up as a whole.
For the Tame Impala image I also use monoprint. I chose to print in a neon pink colour as I wanted it to have a punk feel to it because that’s the vibe I get from the song. I used the Trevor motif on the necklace so that I could play with the characters in the song and make the cover recognisable. I played around a lot with the composition of the image as it didn’t look right as I printed it. I tried a couple of different angles until it looked right.
