Concept Generation Project.
A project inspired by the objects, shapes and textures within gardens designed by Ivan Hicks. Enter mini worlds, discover surreal objects in unexpected places, juxtaposing the unexpected with reality. Inspiring a fusion of bright prints which combine to create a distinctive Sports Luxe collection.
Surreal mannequins were featured in my photogrpahy of my sense of place. I printed a grass like texture onto accetate paper to create the effect of the faces peering through the grass.
The key words that described my sense of place were disorder and surreal. I wanted to highlight these words in my research to influence my designs. When presenting these words i drew textures within nature behind them.
Print Developments I began to use the sketches from my photography to create surreal like prints on Photoshop.

GLAZE A project inspired by the industrial heritage of London. Focusing on the famous Whitefriar’s Glass industry. Glass ornaments are observed to inform form and silhouette. Swirling patterns and opaque details influence aspects of fabric design and shape.
Whitefriar’s Glass
Visiting the Museum of London lead to research of glass welding tools. Similarly replicas of Whitefriar’s stores are observed as well as the inside of the factories.
Glass Vases
Research of a variety of shaped glass ornaments informed a feminine hourglass silhouette. The textures created from blowing and sculpting the glass lead on to inform fabrication.
Stained Glass Windows
Observing modern Whitefriar’s stained glass windows. The shapes of the glass lead onto inspire applique designs for fabrication.
Glass Magnified Close ups of glass marbles inspired a colour palette. The patterns within paperweights influenced tiedye fabric samples. Flowing wavy patterns inspired a floaty silhouette and curved scalloped edges. Circular shapes within the paperweights inspired beading and ergonomic form.
Work Wear
Focusing on the clothing men and women wore to work in the 1960s, in the Glass Industry; inspiration came from women’s wear. Office workers wore fitted and smart apparel with delicate details on blouses and sleeves.
