Sophisticated Giving: Louisville Ballet
In June, Louisville Ballet announced its bold move to an entirely virtual season. Our 2020 / 2021 Season of Illumination will kick off in the fall on a digital stage, coming to you wherever you are. Joined by KERTIS, a Louisville-based creative group of strategists, filmmakers, photographers, writers, and designers, we will create dance art films that give voice to a diverse collection of artists, and tell stories that are beautiful in their honesty and relevance. The season will come to life production by production, depending on the investment and enthusiasm of patrons and supporters.
Company Dancers will return to the 315 E. Main Street Studio in August, rehearsing in masks and dancing in small ‘pods’ of dancers. In addition, a group of young dancers from the Louisville community will be welcomed into the studio in August as Louisville Ballet kicks off the inaugural in-studio Louisville Ballet Community Engagement (LBCE) program, Ballet Bound.
Students were selected from various in-school and afterschool LBCE classes conducted last year at Lincoln Performing Arts School, The Brown School, Rangeland Elementary, Crums Lane and Whitney Young Elementary. This opportunity is free for participating students and supported by generous donors to Louisville Ballet like The Gheens Foundation and Kentucky Select Properties. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available to support these young dancers’ enrollment in The Louisville Ballet School.
