Sophisticated Giving: American Lung Association
The American Lung Association in Kentucky saves lives through public education, air quality initiatives, research funding and advocating for the health of all Kentuckians. Through your support, our local impact is reflected through grants that support lung health in our community, including Air Louisville and the Green Heart Project, and involvement on the Louisville Health Advisory Board.
Signature programs include: Asthma 1-2-3 which provides school personnel with the confidence and knowledge to recognize and respond appropriately to an asthma emergency; Freedom From Smoking which helps hundreds of thousands of people quit smoking every year; and Better Breathers Club, a program that connects people living with lung disease to educate and support each other throughout the Bluegrass.
We Need Your Support Now More Than Ever! Why? When you can’t breathe, nothing else matters.™ Consider these local facts of how lung disease and poor air quality affect Kentucky. • Lung cancer is the #1 cancer killer of both women & men, and Kentucky has the highest rate of lung cancer incidences and deaths in the country. • In Kentucky, more than 92,652 children suffer from asthma. • In Louisville more than 235,000 people are living with chronic lung disease, including asthma, COPD, and lung cancer. • J Jefferson county residents live in a county with a failing grade for ozone air quality.
