At your wedding, make sure “something blue” isn’t you. A year from now, your guests may not remember the delicately crisp texture of the Pistachio Encrusted Sea Bass. They may never recount the dramatic artistry of the sizzling flambé or swoon over its subtle layers of exquisite flavor. Nor are they likely to remember the elegance of the fine linen lining the carefully set tables. What they will remember, however, is the magic. They will remember the enchanted feeling of being surrounded by friends and family in a setting as beautiful as the love they share. They will remember that on your wedding day, everything was perfect. boutique catering | event design | couture linens and rental | 859.255.0717 | lundyscatering.com

Mike & Becky Photography by David Blair Photography Mike and Becky’s ceremony and reception took place at the Seelbach Hilton Hotel in downtown Louisville.. The ceremony, presided over by both a Rabbi and Minister, melded elements of the Jewish and Christian faiths, as Becky and her family are Jewish and Mike and his family are Methodist. Following the ceremony, the couple presided over a cocktail hour in the foyer where they spent much of their time greeting guests and partaking from an assortment of elaborate appetizers. After a fantastic formal dinner, an 11-member band took the stage and provided great entertainment throughout the rest of the night. The energy from the live band really kept the dance floor full. In keeping with Jewish tradition, the bride and groom were hoisted on chairs and taken around the dance floor, followed by both sets of parents.

Captured by RedTree Photography in an artistic and creative documentarystyle format, the wedding featured a beautiful view looking out over the Louisville skyline, while the reception was held on the 2nd floor of Glassworks. Crystal & Shawn Photography by Robert Burge Photography What a wonderful day for a wedding!! It was definitely worth the 13-year wait for Crystal and Shawn, who met in October of 1996 over a silly discussion about Sports Illustrated and have been madly in love ever since. Mackenzie Spalding of One Fine Day Wedding Consultation left no stone unturned when it came to the planning of this special day. The outdoor ceremony was full of emotion and included their beloved Chocolate Labrador Retriever as the ring bearer. A formal buffet dinner followed the ceremony in Spindletop Hall, a stunning historic mansion in Lexington, KY. Following dinner, guests danced the night away under the stars on the veranda. The amazing weather was the icing on the cake. Speaking of cake, the bride and groom selected a glorious chocolate and white wedding cake that was truly a piece of art, not to mention the “Sports Illustrated” Grooms cake that was an exact replica of the magazine that brought them together 13 years ago. Crystal and Shawn were smiling brightly all day as they celebrated their marriage with family and friends from near and far. The highlight of the night was surely the surprise aerial fireworks during the newlywed’s first dance and the bon voyage fountain fireworks as they drove off at the end of the night - a perfect ending to a perfect wedding. wedding planner One Fine Day Wedding Consultation photographer Robert Burge Photography ceremony musicians Commonwealth Musicians videographer Scott Hayes Video Productions florist BelAir Florist reception music Skyline Drive Band baker Martine’s fireworks Bill Loeffler

Michelle & Justin Photography by Robert Burge | Written by Ellen Shaheen Fox, ShaFox Weddings & Events Grand elegance coupled with sweet emotions only briefly describes the wedding celebration uniting Michelle Battafarano and Justin Smith. It was one full of family love, surrounded by great friends, in a most elegant atmosphere. Michelle looked resplendent in a Monique Lhuillier gown. Upon giving his daughter away, the bride’s father lovingly embraced her for quite awhile as if he was not ready to let her go, but then turned to the groom an extended an equal embrace welcoming a new son into the family. It was quite an emotional and teary moment for the guests in attendance. During cocktails, guests enjoyed Italian and Cuban food that paid tribute to the heritage of the bride’s parents. Guests also were treated to handmade Kentucky cigars, and for fun, a photo station. As guests entered the Crystal Ballroom at The Brown Hotel for a four-course dinner, they were mesmerized by the opulence of the room with its spectacular floral designs, rich linens, lavish seating and a towering yet stunning wedding cake. The reception design and details were truly magnificent. As a surprise for the couple, the bride’s parents hired an artist to paint the reception throughout the evening, so the couple would always have a cherished memory of their wedding. Additional sweet touches included the bride’s cousin who wrote and performed a song for the bride and groom. And lastly, the groom paid tribute to his twin sister with a special dance as he sang and held her among the dancing guests. Dancing continued well into the early hours of the morning, and to keep guests energized, they enjoyed a late night snack surprise of breakfast sandwiches, donuts and milkshake shooters. Eventually the celebration ended, but one thing is for certain, the love between the families and for the couple has only just begun. Congratulations Michelle & Justin! Virginia & Chris Photography by Studio e Photography Virginia & Chris met in DC, but her family is from Louisville, so they selected the Seelbach as their wedding location because of the beautiful décor, and they wanted their wedding to portray an old fashioned feel, which worked great with the location. Virginia’s elegant peacock hairpiece was designed by her mother and the wedding ceremony and reception were wonderfully decorated. The Proposal… “Chris took me out to dinner in DC to one of our favorite fancier restaurants, DC Coast,” Virginia explained. “In the middle of dinner, Chris excused himself for a minute, and when he returned, he surprised me from behind with a single rose, with the ring attached to the stem with a ribbon. I screamed out loud at first because he had startled me from behind. After seeing the ring on the rose and recognizing his intention I said yes.” Memories from your wedding day… Virginia recalled, “Seeing my flower girls play with the petals. Having my dad make me laugh the moment I got nervous walking down the aisle. Not being nervous during the ceremony. Deciding on our first song while getting my hair done. Learning, the hard way, that the first dance need not be more than 2 minutes long.” location The Seelbach wedding gown Sonar 2007 La Sposa by Pronovias cake Sweet Surrender band Louisville Wedding Crashers hair & makeup Le Bliss floral & decorations J Elizabeth Designs photography Studio e Photography (Michelle & Shane Elliott)

Ashley & Van Photography by Chad Henle Photography Ashley and Van met in high school while Ashley was studying viola at Manual’s Youth Performing Arts School and Van was at Atherton. It was when they re-met at a yearly Christmas party while Ashley was attending the Maryland College of Art in Baltimore, studying photography and Van was on leave from working as a musician in London, that they began dating. The two have continued in their respective professions, with Ashley working as a freelance photographer in Louisville and Van touring the world with various musicians. In May 2008, Van proposed to Ashley as he was leaving for a long European Tour. One year later, not far from where the proposal took place, Ashley and Van were wed at historic Locust Grove. The two feel a connection to nature and wanted an outdoor ceremony surrounded by family and close friends. Locust Grove seemed to be the perfect location as Van’s grandfather, Julian VanWinkle II, had been board president when the old home first opened to the public, and the gardens are unbelievable in springtime. The wedding day was dark and rainy until just before the guests started gathering, when the black clouds moved up-river, the sun came out and it was a beautiful evening. There were bridesmaids in grass-green dresses set against the ochre of the stones of the 200-year-old outbuildings; groomsmen in khaki suits; skipping barefoot flower girls; rings carried by their beloved black lab, Buddy; music played by Van’s band members; the bride in a simple 30’s era dress; a fabulous Kentucky picnic under the tent; a wedding cake made by the daughter of a friend; flowers that seemed they were plucked from the nearby field; favors of giant Sweet-Pea seeds tied up by the bride; a photo booth; and. children dancing wildly. DESTINATIONS
St.Lucia One of the Windward Islands, St. Lucia is located in the middle of the Eastern Caribbean chain of islands and is approximately 21 miles south of Martinique and 90 miles northwest of Barbados. Castries (population 50,000) is the island’s capital. St. Lucia is 27 miles long and 14 miles wide with a combination of high mountains, forests, low-lying lands and beaches. A central mountain range runs the length of the island, with peaks ranging between 1000 and 3145 feet. Forests dominate the mountains, while jasmine, scarlet chenille and wild orchids provide splashes of color to the lush green slopes. Two towering volcanic cones on the southwest coast - Gros Piton and Petit Piton - are one of the Caribbean’s most famous (and photographed) landmarks. The volcanic origins of the island provide visitors with an opportunity to visit a “drive-in volcano” and take a dip in the reputedly therapeutic sulphur springs. The climate on the island is tropical with temperatures ranging from 70° – 90° F. The rainy season is from June to November with the drier period occurring typically between December and May.

For their July 2009 wedding in St. Lucia, Lorna Salyer and Adam Smith of Bowling Green, KY chose to be married and honeymoon at Villa Capri, a large private home perched on a hillside overlooking the azure waters of the Caribbean and framed by lush tropical gardens. Villa owner Kris Wagner helped orchestrate every detail of the fiveday celebration, from organizing activities to meet the varied interests of family members to handling the minutia of details related to the ceremony and reception. Formerly an embassy, Villa Capri is the largest private villa on the 850-acre residential Cap Estate and thus provided an ideal location for the large family gathering. The villa is fully staffed with four cooks, a houseman, a maid and a gardener/pool attendant. For $699 USD, Villa Capri offers a basic wedding package for weddings on property that includes: • Preparation of legal documents including lawyer fees and marriage officer • Marriage license and certificate • Beautifully decorated wedding gazebo with tropical flowers • Small wedding bouquet for the bride • Grooms button hole • Bottle of French champagne after the reception For more information about weddings at Villa Capri, visit capristlucia. com or contact Kris Wagner at capristlucia@hotmail.com.

Cavallo Point – The Lodge at Golden Gate – San Francisco, CA Opened in the summer of 2008 as the only luxury hotel near the Golden Gate Bridge, Cavallo Point is set in a former army post in Marin County, and billed as a “sustainable base camp where the city’s urban edge meets untamed coastal wildlands.” At its doorstep are more than 80,000 acres of surrounding open space, including one of America’s largest national parks in an urban area. The world-class attractions of San Francisco, Marin, Berkeley, and the celebrated wine country of Napa and Sonoma are all a short distance away. Cavallo Point Lodge offers two room categories, crafted with distinctive features that are a century apart in character and style. Built between 1901 and 1915, Cavallo Point Lodge’s 68 historic rooms and suites once served as officers’ quarters for Army personnel. The landmark historic brick buildings have been exquisitely restored and feature expansive foyers and staircases, authentic tin ceilings with ceiling fans, fireplaces, panoramic windows, and spacious front porches, many with breathtaking views of San Francisco Bay. Whitepod – Switzerland According to founder Sofia de Meyer, “Whitepod is inspired by a desire to create a haven of beauty and tranquility where guests can restore tired bodies and jaded spirits in the knowledge that their presence will bear little if no impact at all on the surrounding environment.” Whitepod’s green credentials are obvious before you even arrive: with no roads leading to the remote alpine camp, guests must arrive by either walking or skiing (from the tiny village of Les Cerniers, high up in the Dents du Midi). The electricity-free hideaway is comprised of 15 igloo-shaped pods perched 5,000 feet on moveable platforms surrounding a traditional wooden chalet. The pods are covered with white canvas in the winter and green in the summer so they seamlessly meld into the surrounding landscape. Über-modern insulation technology, lantern lighting and wood burning stoves allow you to leave the lightest eco footprint while enjoying unlimited vistas

of the Alpine wilderness. Guests have access to a private ski run with over four miles of ski slopes and three lifts, as well as forests and walks on snowshoe. All this outdoor effort builds up an appetite and the resident chef provides two nightly menus, one with traditionally hearty Swiss mountain food such as Raclette and Fondue, the other with lighter dishes using locally sourced ingredients. King Pacific Lodge – British Columbia Accessible only by boat or seaplane and open from May through October, King Pacific Lodge is anchored in Barnard Harbor along the shores of Princess Royal Island in British Columbia, Canada; about 680 miles north of Vancouver. The island has no permanent inhabitants or structures and this highly sensitive environment is in the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest, the world’s largest remaining tract of temperate rainforest. The floating luxury wilderness lodge is built of native pine, fir, cedar and stone and offers only 17 guest rooms and suites, a wrap-around deck with spectacular views along with award winning cuisine and a spa. “I think our guests understand that we must be as aware of fish counts as we are of thread counts, and that a 10,000 year old culture can give them a new way of looking at the world. I truly believe that many of our guests may start off with a

list of things they must see and end up with an experience they must feel. They too adopt a proprietary connection to the land as distant, honorary citizens of the Gitga’at,” said Michael Uehara, President of King Pacific Lodge. For the first time ever, the Princess Royal Suite -- two floors of luxury accommodation with panoramic views of the ocean, rainforest and nearby waterfall -- is being made available at tremendous value.
Pricing from CDN $14,145 per couple. Save thousands more arising from the strength of the U.S. Dollar (subject to current exchange rates). Kingpacificlodge.com
Couples can stay at 50% savings as part of the “Treat Her Like Royalty” package, an all-inclusive getaway that includes: • Private charter transfers from Vancouver to the lodge including a 45-minute scenic floatplane from Bella Bella to Barnard Harbour • Three, four- or seven nights lavish of accommodation at King Pacific Lodge in the Princess Royal Suite • Daily guided adventures customized to your interests including hiking, kayaking, whale watching, wildlife viewing, cultural tours and ocean fishing • Three spa treatments from a menu of 55-minute massages, body wraps and exfoliations • Welcome bottle of sparkling wine in your suite upon arrival • Gourmet meals prepared with the finest ingredients • Host bar and all beverages including beer and premium liquor • Selection of British Columbia finest wines representing many varietals and appellations • A private dinner in your suite created in consultation with you by the Chef • Daily chocolate ‘pillow treats’ created by the pastry chef exclusively for guests in the Princess Royal Suite

Selecting the perfect bouquet

FLORAL
Selecting a bouquet should be largely dependent on the silhouette of the wedding gown, i.e. A-line, empire, ball gown, mermaid, etc. One should also take into consideration the level of formality of the wedding, as loose organic bouquets are best suited for garden and beach weddings, while pageant-style bouquets are ideal for formal affairs.

Pageant Named for a way a beauty queen carries her bouquet, long stems are arranged in a sweeping fashion so that the bouquet can fit nicely into a bride’s arm.
Organic This loose, unfussy flower arrangement epitomizes casual elegance and is characterized by stems of flowers and greenery loosely tied together by wire or ribbon. Photo by Phillips Photography

CAKES
Au Courant Cakes 2010 wedding trends are shaping up to eschew pastel color scheme in favor of bold and bright hues, which will undoubtedly carry over to wedding cakes. Pink, bright orange and yellow, peach tones, black and turquoise are of the moment colors for bridesmaid dresses and wedding cakes.

Other Trends Think small. Serve miniature cookies, tarts, mini Êclairs and individual cupcakes scattered on large platters and serving rounds placed around the tiered cake for buffet-style service. Buttercream over fondant. Buttercream icing provides a softer texture (and a much better taste many contend), than fondant. Edible Art. Those with an artistic bent should look to cakes decorated with edible paint. Everything from masterworks to unique printed designs can be replicated directly on the cake’s surface.

Other Trends A little fruity. Spring and summer brides may want to consider topping each tier with fresh fruit. Ruffles on the round. Indulge your affinity for opulence with wedding cake tiers decorated with ruffles, lace accents and large rosettes and finished with edible flowers, gold or silver leaf detailing, and small silver beads.
