HOTEL CONFIDENTIAL: INSIDE THE NEWLY RENOVATED ICONIC TROPICAL HOTEL ST. BARTH On the most exclusive island in the Caribbean, a few steps away from the beaches of Saint-Jean, the Tropical Hotel St Barth unveils a new chic and relaxing oasis designed by interior designer Oscar Lucien Ono. With 24 rooms spread over 2 levels, this glamorous hotel draws its inspiration from the decor of the 1930s and 1940s. After three years of renovation, the place is now converted into a 5* boutique hotel. This iconic property - the second hotel to be built in St Barths - combines an Art Deco atmosphere with a Wes Anderson-style kitsch spirit.
Lush vegetation, tropical motifs, and pastel colors... Nature invites itself everywhere. Like a colorful plant oasis, it brings both freshness and intimacy to the different spaces: restaurant, bar, patio, rooms, and suites. Communicating through hallmarks typical of Caribbean architecture, everything revolves around the patio, the true pulse of the hotel where the vegetation fills the space.
Inside, Oscar Lucien Ono continues his interpretation of the Garden of Eden, notably through a selection of fabrics and wallpapers with exotic motifs, such as the famous Salengro model by the designer Manuel Canovas or the Mauritius fabric by Pierre Frey, whose colors have been custom-made for the hotel.
"Saint Barth is a dream island nestled in the West Indies. We come here to isolate ourselves from the world. One thinks of the jet set, but the art of living here has maintained a rather slow and very relaxing atmosphere, in a discreet and tropical elegance. So at Tropical I wanted to pay homage to an idea of being in harmony with the surrounding nature, to stage a place where one feels comfortable and almost familiar. To weave a backdrop inspired by the codes of the Caribbean aesthetic at the height of its elegance in the 1940s," Oscar Lucien Ono
