OSP Mission and Priorities • To promote and facilitate externally-funded programs for research, training and public service • To support overall research efforts by encouraging long-term stable funding commitments and improved research management • Facilitate acquisition of new technology and information through research funding • Facilitate funding for student education and enhancement of faculty skills

Proposal Preparation and Submission 1. Notice of Intent Form • Schedules dates for OSP review and submission • NOI Due to OSP 30 days prior to submission • First Draft due to OSP 10 working days prior to agency due date • Final Draft due to OSP 4 working days prior to agency due date Notice of Intent Form also: • Sets IDC rate • Identifies Teaming Agreements, Subawards, etc.


Proposal Preparation and Submission Proposal Review and Certification Form • Provides institutional buy-in and commitment to proposal activities • PI’s provide signatures of Co-I’s, Department Chair, and Dean • OSP will obtain Provost/VP for Academic Affairs and Research signature, Signed Proposal Approval Cover Sheet must accompany final proposal for submission


Proposal Preparation and Submission Work with Grant Administrator to: • Register with electronic submission portals • Grants.gov (All Federal Agencies) • Research.gov (National Science Foundation) • erCommons (Health and Human Services)

• Develop budget and budget justification • Identify subcontracts, consultant agreements, etc. • Obtain ARO signatures


Proposal Preparation and Submission Work with Grant Writer to: • Strengthen and edit proposal narrative • Ensure narrative compliance with solicitation requirements • Review proposal narrative to budget narrative for synch • Identify IRB or IACUC issues


Other Proposal Processes 1. Limited Submission – Agency limits number of submissions for an opportunity. AAMU Internal Submission Process • Interested applicants submit brief preproposal based on agency RFP requirements identified by OSP. • Must apply by deadline indicated in Limited Submission Procedures. • Review team comprised of Deans/designees from each College and OSP select proposals to go forward
