Food, Fun & Family
9 Mile Garden is the ultimate family destination.
By Melissa Mauzy
Missouri’s first food truck garden is located in south St. Louis county. 9 Mile Garden is a family-focused entertainment district that includes a food truck garden, bar and entertainment area. The whole family, including on-leash dogs, can enjoy fare from a rotating line-up of food trucks along with outdoor movies, live music, community events and more.
The name 9 Mile is a nod to the past before streets had names or road markers. Landmarks were named for their distance from the courthouse or city center. 9 Mile Garden’s food truck garden is approximately nine miles from St. Louis’s Old Courthouse.
St. Louis has a thriving food truck scene, and 9 Mile Garden is proud to support the community. “Supporting local business and giving the community a place to gather is what we are all about,” says managing partner Brian Hardesty. The food truck garden is the focal point of the district serving up a variety of cuisines. Everyone in the family can order their favorites like tacos, fries and ice cream from the multitude of options then eat together in the beautiful picnic park. The daily schedule is posted each morning on 9 Mile Garden’s social media outlets.
Also located within the district is The Canteen, a modern drafthouse serving draft beer from local and national breweries as well as wine and cocktails. The Canteen is a great place to catch a Cardinals or Blues game with TVs for viewing. Just outside the doors is a large patio and spot for outdoor games like bags and washers.
Meet friends and neighbors for a fun afternoon or evening of delicious food accompanied by entertainment. Enjoy local and touring acts including live bands, cultural performances and family-friendly entertainers on the permanent stage. Saturday nights feature an outdoor movie shown on the 20-foot movie screen in the picnic park.
9 Mile Garden is closed for the winter and will reopen for the season on March 1, 2023. Check out their website for announcements on special events before the season opener.
