pri.v.i.leged lux.u.ry Luxury is novel, unique, and exclusive; it is the way in which one feels special according to their subjective needs and wants. New York often boasts of its grand, scenic views, but often do not offer them to the general public. This privately owned public space is located at 120 Park Ave. New York and offers this luxury by privileging the public with programmed areas surrounding views to the city, thus, making the public programs visible and welcoming from the exterior street.
The relationship between PRADA & POPS is, both, integrated through visual permeability and separated physically. All Prada programs are kept on the ground floor, with no direct access from POPS programs. All POPS programming and circulation surround Prada in three upper levels, providing the public with constant visual access to the Prada merchandise while maintaining control of security and supervision on the items.

This aspect is put back into the design by placing the Prada merchandise throughout the space for visitors to view even in the public spaces. C O N C E P T I N S P I R AT I O N SCULPTURE GARDEN

SITE CONDITIONS The site is located on an exterior slope -- entrance 1 is lower than entrance 2. The interior site can be viewed from various scalar levels, such as the Altria lobby and two office hallways .

This aspect is put into the design by mimicking the transcening and ascening pathways. The POPS programs are placed on high levels, allowing them to view Prada and the merchandise from different points of view.

C I R C U L AT I O N The interior site follows an ascending circulation path, providing various levels and methods of egress. This enveloping path promotes the users to walk through the entire space, but also offers opportunities for quick access back to the ground level.

CASEWORK The casework in this space is seen through tall glass towers that vary in width and height. The towers emulate the New York skyline and introduce the idea of visual integration within the space. The glass keeps the Prada merchandise secure whle allowing visual access to the public. The size variance allows clothes, shoes, bags, and other accessories to be displayed at different scales, providing visuals to the merchandise from Prada, as well as, the POPS spaces .

spa.tial in.ter.re.la.tion Located in Industry City, Brooklyn, the space is designed for a science fiction post-production film company. This office is a physical model of the imposing and molecular spatial and scalar relationships seen in the cosmos. The space defines an understanding of smaller elements, such as offices or lounges, formulating the greater office as a whole. Because of this, the office creates different scalar relationships between the user and the physical space.
The cross between manmade techniques of understanding the natural world is apparent in the assimilation of both natural and industrial materials throughout the space. While providing an efficient communication and circulation through the different departments, the space develops small pockets of discovery and versatility. The space is designed to cater to the user’s needs, in aspects like acoustics, lighting, and privacy and provides a diversity of work place areas.

We began our study of the office space by developing a filter. This filtering system allows the user to manipulate the filter according to their needs in regards to light and acoustics. The filter acts as one that refines the users spatially throughout the office. i.e. if the user needs a quiet space, they can move to a room with auditory properties. The filter incorporates panels of various materials that manuever in various orientations and directions. The use of both hard/translucent and soft/opaque materials allow the user to manipulate, not only the desired levels of light, acoustics, and privacy, but allow them to be moved according to the user’s needs.

People can choose to use different spaces according to their needs
The space provides different levels of privacy requirements in terms of walls, their materials, and their correlation with privacy. Open offices provide a closer connection to the greater portion of the office, while closed off offices provide a more intimate relationship with the space.

initial
This project entailed using only three materials in order to construct a stool or chair. By using pine plywood, wood glue, and nails, I designed a stool that incorporated the korean initials of my name and my sister’s name.
The negative space creates opportunities to store objects, like books or papers. The chair is completely supported according to it’s structure.
