The music of Lothar Klein (born January 27, 1932, Hannover, Germany) has been performed at leading national and international music festivals. His Cantata II on Epigrams of Sappho was premiered at the 1962 Berlin Festival; the Fy p itaphs for Orchestra was performed in Paris, Rome and Zurich; Orchestral Symmetries I. IV (published by Theodore Presser Co.) was the American entry in the 1964 Mexico City Festival de Musica Contemporanea. In 1967 George Szell selected the composer's jazz study Musique Go-Go, published by Theodore Presser Co. and recordFrequently performed, this work opened ed by the Louisville Orchestra, for a premiere by the Cleveland Orchestra. the 1970 International Festival for Light Music. In 1970 Karel Ancerl premiered the composer's Pa'anini Colla g e with the Toronto Symphony. A frequent contributor to national and international music journals, the composer also served as a consultant to CBS Television in filming its documentary "Stravinsky. " In 1969, as a Fulbright Professor, the composer was invited by the Berlin Hochschule fuer Musik to present a guest seminar in observance of its cenThe composer, who holds a Ph, D. from the University of Minnesota, is Professor of Theorytennial celebration. Composition at the University of Toronto. He is a member of the College Music Society and the American Society of Composers. Authors and Publishers.
