For Sale 6-yr old Strad model cello - £4,000 This cello is from the workshop of American luthiers Martin and Charton Beare, known as the Pi-810 series. It is a professional grade Strad model, 6 years old and in excellent condition, and has been professionally valued in London by Stringers at around £4,000. The front is 10-year air-dried spruce and the back is 10-year air-dried maple and it has a filtered soft varnish, ebony fittings and double purfling. It is fully set up with Evah Pirazzi strings. To celebrate their 30th Anniversary, the Kirton in Lindsey Society have brought a very special event to Kirton in Lindsey Town Hall. Passamezzo specialise in British music from the 16th and 17th Centuries. "Old Christmas Returned: Music, words and song for Christmas in 17th Century England" consists of ballads, lute songs, carols, consort music, madrigals and readings, and describes how Christmas was celebrated, banned and restored in 17th Century. The programme follows the religious calendar from Christmas Day itself to the beginning of Lent and includes music by Attey, Byrd, Dowland, Gibbons, Lawes, Locke, Purcell and Wilson and readings from Shakespeare, Drummond, Herrick and Taylor. Concerts have a distinct theatrical air created by the costumes, readings and presentation. All performances are researched from original sources. Winter Wilson Local heroes Kip Winter and Dave Wilson hit the big time earlier this year with a three month tour of Australia and New Zealand. They have also fitted in some dates in Germany among their busy schedule of clubs and festivals. On top of that, they have been working on a new album which should be ready early in 2018, so you can expect to sample some of the new material at this gig. This ensemble who take their name from Thomas Hardy's fictitious town, previously performed for us in December 2013 and proved so popular then that we have invited them back to give another Christmas concert for this season. LA NATIVITÉ DU SEIGNEUR 7.00 PM Colin Walsh – Organ Join us for the annual performance of La Nativité du Seigneur on Sunday 10 December 2017. Played on the world renowned Father Willis Organ and performed by Lincoln Cathedral’s own Organist Laureate, Colin Walsh in the striking Nave of The Cathedral. The evening will consist of a series of meditations for the Organ whilst exploring the story of Christmas. Olivier Messiaen’s 1935 masterpiece is considered to be one of the greatest Organ compositions of all time. La Nativité du Seigneur is a Christmas tradition at Lincoln Cathedral and one not to be missed. Tickets are priced at £6 each.

Kenneth will be giving a recital under the title 'Around the World in 80 Minutes' and will include some seasonal items given the time of year. He is experienced in presenting lighthearted entertainments - anecdotal and amusing - and performing in a wide variety of venues to a broad range of audiences. At this, our December concert, there will be an extended interval for wine, coffee and mince pies and a Christmas raffle. Donations of wine and mince pies and/or raffle prizes are always gratefully received by the committee for the December concert. Lincoln Music and Drama Festival 2018 Monday 5th March – Saturday 17th March Our 76th Festival runs from Monday 5th March to Saturday 17th March 2018 at Central Methodist Church, High Street, Lincoln, LN5 7PR. The festival was established as a competitive festival to promote and encourage artistic and literary appreciation by providing a platform for amateurs to perform a wide range of different aspects of music and drama. Classes are open to performers of all abilities and without geographical restriction. Ages range from about four years old to nearly 90, although approximately three quarters of performers are under 18. In an average year, we have 500 speech and drama entries and 400 music entries equating to over 2000 performers. Speech & Drama: 5th - 10th March Music: 12th - 17th March Festival: Concert 23rd March Closing Date for Entries: Friday January 19th 2018 Audiences are welcome at all sessions.
