JOE BUCK While attending New York Institute of Technology in 1991 I attended a party where I was offered the opportunity to create three album covers for a high profile rap group named De La Soul. De La Soul happened to be visiting the campus at that time and hey had seen some hand drawn flyers I had done for various fraternities. Of course I took them up on their offer to let me illustrate the covers. 'De La Soul is Dead' and 'Saturdays' have become highly recognizable and to this day are still considered iconic. The opportunity opened doors; traveled the world, started a few t-shirt lines, worked in the fashion industry, became part of team that birthed the Fader magazine and illustrating two of the first Hip Hop children's books with Scholastic. For 20+ years I have continued to design, but my free time is spent on my true love, painting. Raised in Hollis, Queens, presently living in Long Island NY; graduate of High School and Art & Design (NYC) and New York Institute of Technology (NY).
