Abrasive Power Tool Manufacturer Dynabrade, Inc. Names New President

Dynabrade, Inc., a leading industrial abrasive power tool manufacturer, is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Buffamonti as the company’s new president, effective April 1, 2021. Mr. Michael Buffamonti, president, Buffamonti most recently held Dynabrade, Inc. the role of chief financial officer for the company and has been a key member of the executive management team for many years. Prior to joining Dynabrade, he held various management positions at Deloitte LLP.

Mike is a proven, trusted leader, who has been involved in every aspect of Dynabrade’s business over his 25-year tenure. Since the beginning of his career at Dynabrade, Mike worked very closely with the company’s founder, Walter Welsch. He is committed to upholding the strong ideals on which the company was founded upon.

The Reshoring Initiative, PMA, NTMA, and AMT Launch 4th Annual National Metalworking Reshoring Award

Four leading manufacturing associations have announced the 4th National Metalworking Reshoring Award competition. Companies that have successfully reshored products, parts, or tooling made primarily by metalforming, fabricating, casting, or machining, including additive manufacturing, are invited to apply. The Reshoring Initiative, PMA, NTMA, and AMT are pleased to sponsor this competition.

To be eligible for the award, the reshoring must have been done between Jan. 1, 2013, and May 31, 2021, from outside North America to North America. Reshoring includes work that is produced either in-house or outsourced. Applications must be submitted by June 30, 2021. Custom Industrial Products (CIP) is proud to announce a starting minimum wage of $15 per hour, effective March 29. CIP employees who were already making $15 an hour have had their wages increased as well.

“We believe it’s vital in these uncertain times, in the midst of a pandemic, that we as an organization continue to invest in our people as well as contribute to the regrowth of the economy,” said Tom Tenney, CEO of Custom Industrial Products. “By paying more than many of our competitors we hope to attract the best new employees and retain the kind of employees we need”, said Tenney.

Prior to this increase, the starting wage averaged around $11 per hour. When asked how this increase will impact their daily life, shop powder coater, Robert Arnold said “it will help a lot. The Increase will pay for my wife to continue her education.”

Siemens and SAP Expand Partnership to Deliver Intelligent Service and Asset Lifecycle Management Solutions

With an initial focus on discrete manufacturing, Siemens will begin to offer SAP® Asset Intelligence Network, the SAP Asset Strategy and Performance Management application, and the SAP Enterprise Portfolio and Project Management package. SAP will offer Siemens’ Teamcenter® software service lifecycle management (SLM) portfolioto enable an ecosystem with integrated service engineering and asset operations. The companies plan to deliver new cloud-based services that can help industrial equipment manufacturers to increase critical asset operational efficiency, avoid unplanned downtime and shorten design cycles in asset engineering projects. This can help maximize business value over the entire product and service/asset lifecycle and enable new collaborative processes between manufacturers and operators. Building on the strategic partnership between Siemens and SAP announced in July 2020, these new solutions can enable industrial equipment

manufacturers to provide new services and business models for installed equipment and help owners and operators use operational insights to increase asset utilization while maximizing safety and reducing risks.

Mike Toper Joins Gear Motions as Director of Business Development
