Community Education classes, seminars, workshops, and camps offer a variety ofopportunities for cultural, educational, and life-enriching activities for all ages. Boating Education Instructor: Laura Rogers Two class offerings: • Monday and Tuesday, January 14 and 15 6 pm - 9 pm • Monday and Tuesday, March 11 and 12 6 pm – 9 pm SouthArk CFWD East Campus Fee: FREE Anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 1986, and of legal age to operate a motorboat, must have successfully completed an approved Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Boating Education Course and carry proof while operating a motorboat on Arkansas water. The law also affects operators of sailboats. The Arkansas Boating Education Course teaches the fundamentals of safe and responsible boating. Hunter’s Education Tuesday and Thursdays, April 2-11 6 pm – 9 pm SouthArk Library Auditorium Fee: FREE By Arkansas law, anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 1969 will be required to take Hunter Education and carry a certification card. The certification is mandatory in most western and mid-western states. Young hunters and adults who will be hunting out-of-state are urged to attend the class. You must attend all four classes. There is no fee for this course. Advance registration required.

Spanish for Missions Instructor: Osman Latino Saturdays, February 2 and 9 8 am – 12 noon SouthArk CFWD East Campus Fee: $75.00, book and 2 CDs included Instructor Osman Latino, native of Nicaragua, is a certified Command Spanish teacher and one of our most popular instructors. The Command Spanish: Spanish for Missions program is a comprehensive treatment of the language used by service, volunteer, and religious organizations when bringing aid to Spanish-speaking countries. The language component utilizes phonetic encoding to address pronunciation of the most important Spanish commands, questions, and phrases pertinent to daily interactions between Spanish-speakers and non-Spanish-speakers. No prior knowledge of Spanish is necessary. Class size is limited. Computer Troubleshooting Instructor: Bobbie Smith Monday, March 4 5 pm – 7 pm SouthArk CFWD East Campus Fee: $15.00 Computer problems can be difficult to diagnose and fix due to the complex nature of the machine. This class will address the most commonly encountered problems. Students will leave feeling better prepared to understand and resolve issues as they arise. Geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity that is growing exponentially in popularity across the nation. This hands-on workshop will provide an introduction to the world of Geocaching through a brief history of the game, things to consider when playing, and a lesson on using the GPS for finding hidden treasure containers, known as “caches.” Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes to this class.

They state that the structure has detailed fibers and pigmentation that reflects information about our physical and psychological makeup. During this class, Iridologist Rhonda Williams will walk students through the science behind Iridology and what all the practice can reveal. Space is limited.

Media Tablets for Business Instructor: Julia Nipper, SAU Small Business and Technology Development Center Monday, March 4 11 am – 1:30 pm SouthArk CFWD East Campus Fee: $30.00 - hot lunch will be served The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center presents “Using Media Tablets for Your Business.” Have you seen other business owners with tablet computers? Want to get a tablet for your business, but don’t know what you would use one for? Attend a handson workshop with the Southern Arkansas University SBTDC’s new iPad tablet lab. You’ll learn the basics of how to use a tablet computer. We’ll also explore built in applications as well as several downloadable tablet apps that are being used with success by other small businesses. Learn how you can process invoices in the field, teleconference with employees and customers, and much more! Your fee includes a workbook and hands-on training with a tablet. Retail Management and Operations Series Instructor: Sherry Howard, AWBC SouthArk CFWD East Campus Arkansas Women’s Business Center and South Arkansas Community College Office of Corporate and Community Education will host the Retail Operations and Management Series. This curriculum is designed for individuals who are considering opening a retail business, who are currently a retail business owner, who are employed by a retail business, or who would like to pursue the position of a retail manager. About the Instructor: Dr. Pamela Higgins Saulsberry, LCSW-BACS has an extensive history of community social services provision directed at the families and child welfare issues. She is the Head of the School of Social Sciences and a Professor of Social Work, with over 30 years of experience in the classroom and providing additional educational training through workshops and conferences. Dr. Saulsberry is a Certified Effective Black Parenting Instructor, a Trainer of Trainers for the Nurturing Families of Louisiana Project, as well as the founder of Reach Adolescent/Adult Potential (RAP), a community based program in operation since 1985. She has a long-standing commitment to community based services which empower individuals to address the obstacles they may face in life. Dr. Saulsberry’s passions include social justice issues and education. This, she believes, is reflected by her professional choices of Social Work and teaching.

Cancellation Policy When we cancel Classes will be cancelled if a minimum number of full-paying students have not registered by the registration deadline. Early registration helps eliminate the disappointment of course cancellations. Full refunds are given for any classes that we cancel. When you cancel The Office of Corporate and Community Education will refund your registration fee if you cancel up to one week before the class begins. If you cancel less than one week before the class, you will be charged the full amount for the class. Another person may attend in your place when a refund is not allowed. Some seminars, workshops, camps, etc. will have separate cancellation policies. Please inquire about these before registering. Senior Discount Policy Senior citizens are required to pay full price for all non-credit courses unless otherwise indicated.
