Established over 15 years ago, it is one of the longest standing and most successful tourism consortiums in the capital and brings together the area’s attractions, cultural venues, hotels, transport providers, restaurants other relevant organisations with a commitment to promoting the South Bank as a destination. SBMG is a sub-group of South Bank Employers’ Group, an association of the major organisations in South Bank, Waterloo and Blackfriars dedicated to improving and promoting the neighbourhood for the benefit of local employees, residents and visitors. The Group is a non-profit company limited by guarantee, governed by a Board appointed by its members. The Role

The Marketing Assistant assists the Marketing Team in developing and delivering strategic marketing campaigns which are designed to build awareness and engage key stakeholders and audiences with London’s South Bank. The post-holder will liaise with key partners and stakeholders, produce marketing material and provide administrative support. He/she will be involved in all aspects of marketing, most particularly supporting the production function and digital media. In particular, a flair for writing engaging, persuasive yet concise copy is essential. Key responsibilities

1 . Marketing •

Assist in the preparation of printed material, particularly regular what’s on posters, by writing copy, ensuring accuracy by proofreading and liaising with members and designers.

Play an active role in updating and developing digital media, including the content of www.southbanklondon.com and other relevant web sites/social networks

Obtain regular website statistics reports.

Support other departments for specific marketing communications projects.


2. Digital Media •

Co-ordinate of the email marketing schedule, deliver regular e-newsletters and assist with producing weekly results and analysis.

Assist with the day to day monitoring of SBL social media channels and oversee communications to our online audience, ensuring information is presented in an accurate, fun, engaging manner in line with South Bank tone of voice.

Assist with the maintenance and checking of all areas of the SBL website on a regular basis. Monitor copy and image use throughout.

Arrange online competitions in line with marketing plan

Respond to online enquiries and disseminate to the team and our members.

Assist with the management and production of images for use in online publicity materials.

Manipulate images for web and other media use including emails, using Photoshop, Illustrator and other programmes where appropriate.

3. Press •

Assist the Press Officer with managing and developing relationships with key Press and Media, writing press releases and following up with target media.

Maintain and build press cuttings file

4. Events •

Assist with the organisation and execution of industry events, familiarisation trips and showcases.

Represent South Bank London at networking and industry events. Some work during evenings and weekends will be occasionally required for which reasonable time off in lieu will be given.

5. General Administration •

Manage inventory of marketing collateral and publications

Schedule Marketing Team meetings

Update team progress reports and write minutes

Any other duties deemed appropriate via discussion with the Head of Marketing and Chief Executive.


Person Specification

Essential •

Minimum of 12 months experience of working as part of a busy marketing team

Excellent copywriting and editing skills with the ability to produce high quality, creative and effective marketing material

Demonstrable experience of liaising with external partners and suppliers.

Educated to degree level or equivalent

Familiar with Outlook Calendar

Highly competent at using MS Office programmes

Knowledge of the breadth of London arts and cultural industries

Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external colleagues at all levels

High attention to detail

Organised with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritise accordingly

Ability to manage multiple deadlines and set long-term planning deadlines

Ability to respond swiftly to enquiries

Desirable •

A passion for social media and the web

An enthusiasm for, and interest in the arts

Keen interest in photography and visual arts

Experience of recording and maintaining database records

Relevant professional qualification

Experience of managing website content and creating e-publications

Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and/or other image editing software

Experience in using content management systems
