Fun Days Out with the Family

National Trust in East Sussex Spring has sprung at National Trust places nearby including Bateman’s, Sheffield Park and Garden and Bodiam Castle, with endless adventures in the great outdoors for your family. Challenge little legs to navigate winding woodland paths, under towering trees flushed green with fresh leaves. Look closer to catch the twitch of a wing or a fleeting, furry tail as nature emerges from a long slumber. Be first to count the colours of delicate buds in gardens about to burst into bloom. Or shed the winter layers running wild with friends in a natural play space. And in the Easter holidays, beat the Bank Holiday crowds with Cadbury Easter Egg Hunts on for the whole of the school break. Become a nature detective and solve the clues, then finish your adventure with a chocolate treat from Cadbury.

Wherever you choose, find family-friendly facilities including babychanging and warm, welcoming cafés filled with treats for adventurers big and small. Visit www.nationaltrust.org.uk/eastsussex for more information. Photo credit: National Trust Images/Trevor Ray Hart

Animazing at Eastbourne Pavilion A fascinating free exhibition, celebrating the story of children’s television, returns to Eastbourne Pavilion for a second instalment from 29 March. The free exhibition, Animazing, showcases a range of nostalgic childhood TV favourites across 70 years with characters such as Muffin the Mule, Sooty & Sweep, Morph, The Thunderbirds and Wallace & Gromit. Budding puppeteers can try their hand at bringing the characters to life, making sound effects, creating stop-motion animation and even presenting their own TV show. Visitors can discover some of the visual tricks of the trade as well as recreating a flying scene using a green screen studio projection. For more information, visit www.animazingtv.co.uk.

Forest School Activity Cards As a parent, it is hard to ignore the statistics on growing obesity and mental health issues in children. With the omnipresence of social media and growing exam pressures adding new concerns in children’s physical and mental health, many parents are looking for new ways to raise children. Forest Schools actively combat the statistics, encouraging child-led, nature-centred activities to equip children with confidence, self-esteem, life and social skills. Qualified and experienced Forest School leaders, Jane Worroll and Peter Houghton, have created the first ever Forest School Activity Cards. These portable and robust cards are perfect for use in any weather, come rain or shine.
