University Medical Center New Orleans, unique for design features, art and technology, is a $1.1 billion teaching and research architectural marvel of a hospital complex slated to open this August in the emerging Bio-Medical District of downtown New Orleans. In partnership with UMC New Orleans are Tulane University School of Medicine and LSU Health Sciences Center. Nursing and allied health education affiliates include, LSU Health Sciences Center, Xavier University, Delgado Community College, Dillard University, Nunez Community College, Our Lady of Holy Cross and the University of New Orleans. The Ochsner Health Network (OHN), a partnership of five organizations and 25 facilities, is part of a growing trend where hospitals form affiliations rather than acquiring additional assets. Ochsner Health System, St. Tammany Parish Hospital, Lafayette General Health, Christus Health and Terrebonne General Medical Center are the founding partners.
