MONDAY MENTION
Jeff Johnson, '94 & '17 Jeff Johnson received a degree in Christian Education in 1994. After graduating, Jeff taught for ten years in Polk County and coached at various high schools. He also was a part-time youth pastor while he taught, until becoming the full-time youth pastor at Harvest Church in Lakeland for nine years. From there, Jeff became the Children's Pastor at Southside Church in Lakeland, then took over the role of Youth and Music Pastor for another nine years. In 2017, Jeff graduated with his Masters of Arts in Ministry Leadership from SEU, which then opened the opportunity for him to become the Young Adults Pastor at Mount Paran Church in Atlanta where he has been for the last two years. He and his wife, Joanna, also serve as the Connections Pastors there. Jeff and Joanna have three daughters: Crimson, Adison, and Aleigh. Crimson graduated from SEU with a Communications degree and a Masters of Business Administration.

She and her husband, Stephen Bailey, are pastors in Tennessee. Adison just graduated from the University of West Florida, and Aleigh is a high school sophomore. When reflecting on his time at Southeastern, Jeff says that his education here really helped him develop into the minister he is today. "Through my classes and the relationships I built with my professors and friends, I left SEU with the tools needed to be an effective minister of the Gospel." Jeff loved Dr. Hazelbaker's Psychology class, especially if it was on Friday. Friday was the day Dr. Hazelbaker was the happiest because he always went to the local Chinese restaurant for his favorite dish, broccoli beef! Jeff enjoyed the chapel services too: "Not only were they special and anointed, but it gave me a nice break from class each day." Today, Jeff leads his family and church in a God-centered way every day. Thank you for Carrying the Torch, Jeff!
